The year is 2008. President Cheney had been recently convicted, tried, impeached, and imprisioned for knowing about and planning not only the George Bush assassination but a large terrorist attack in order to get us in a massive war in Iran. The Vice President knew too, and his presidency only lasted a few months before he was impeached and Speaker Pelosintook power as President.

The Democrats had an excellent primary between Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama, but Obama seemed like the fresh hope and change that America wanted, and frankly needed. Obama decided to name Clinton as his running mate for party unity, and it seemed like the most well polling ticket.

The Republicans struggled to find big name candidates under the circumstances. Senator John McCain, Former Senator Fred Thompson, Former NYC Mayor and Homeland Security Secretary Rudy Giuliani (who resigned to run for President), and Governor Mike Huckabee all battled for the Republican Nomination. In the end, McCain won, and he had a horrific challenge finding a running mate. After the VP search coming down to Thompson, Gingrich, Lieberman, and Palin, McCain chose Lieberman for national unity.

What happens, who wins?

Obama/Clinton would easily win. Moderates/Independents would swing heavily to Obama because of the scandals and Republican base turnout would be depressed because of the Lieberman pick. Obama wins 55%+ of popular vote and over 400 EVs. If anything, I think this map might be a bit generous to McCain.

after a scandal like that and McCain clearly being the ultimate sacrificial lamb, I can only imagine this would be the most likely result:

I find it hard to believe Pelosi wouldn't run for a full term in her own right.

It would definitely be a Democratic Landslide. The Republican ticket would lack a fresh message, and would lack a President and VP to surrogate for them. I feel the OBAMA ticket would end up carrying all the 2008 IRL states and win states he lost irl like WV, SC, MO, ND, SD, MT, AZ, GA and possibly Texas, but McCain could possibly win there.
