Blankenship really isn't like the median republican voter. He's very rich and he wants to cut SS/Medicare/Medicaid.

Most republicans don't actually want to see SS/Medicare cut, and while they're much more supportive of Medicaid cuts, there's a surprising amount of dissent there too.

I suppose his anger about Obama is reflective of the median republican voter, but most people don't really care much about Obama now that he is out of office.

I mean, it's not like Roy Moore won a national primary.  The Alabama GOP kind of owns that one, and a Republican in Vermont or North Dakota or Washington really has nothing to do with that, despite how tribal things have gotten on the Internet.
