Let's wait and see if this is held up on appeal. I haven't been watching the trial that closely, but I'm a little confused how all of the prior bad acts evidence excluded from the first trial was suddenly deemed admissible for the second.

This.

I have little doubt that Cosby is guilty, but how guilt is proven is important.  If a Judge made a loose decision on allowing prior bad acts to be deemed admissable because of his own biases or public sentiment, that's NOT a "Freedom Decision".

He will if he doesn't die before his appeals are exhausted.

Fine decision. I'm curious how long the sentence is going to be? 20 years?

As I understand it, the maximum could be 10 years on each count, served consecutively, but Cosby's old enuf that even if served concurrently, 10 years would likely be a life sentence.

He's under house arrest right now. He can only leave to meet with his lawyers or for medical treatment.

He also has to wear a GPS monitoring device.

I am so glad that Cosby's victims are seeing justice (finally) done.

I am frustrated that Cosby is the only celebrity really, truly facing punishment for his crime. There are many white men who have done as much or worse than Cosby who are still free. I will remain optimistic that it's because Cosby's case has been pending for so much longer, and that in time we will see Weinstein and his ilk face prison, but I am afraid this is justice being not so colorblind.

It also is tough to deal with for many. Cosby was an inspiration to many people, especially those in the African American community, and now he is tainted. It's a struggle that I personally have yet to figure out. Can we still appreciate the progress and good things someone has done while rejecting the bad? It's really, really tough.

So did I, but I thought he might be prosecuted for... similar crimes.

A person can be a great actor, legislator, comedian, public speaker, musician, writer, journalist, businessperson, athlete or...well...anything, but all it means is that they are great in that one specific way.  No more and no less.  One of the most obvious examples of this is O.J. Simpson.  He was and will always be one of the greatest football players in the history of the game; nothing he did changes that fact.  However, he is also a narcissistic, sociopathic, murderous lowlife and no athletic achievement can change that fact.

In the case of Bill Cosby, he was a talented comedic actor who did a very good job of playing a beloved character on a popular family-friendly TV show.  That doesn't make him any more or less likely to be a good person, it just means is he was a gifted comedic actor who did a good job playing a very nice character on a popular TV show.  In Cosby's case, he turned out to be a monstrous sex predator, but it's a good reminder that we'll never actually know for sure what any of these people are really like unless we find out that one of them does something horrible.

Just to be clear, I'm not saying "well, you should just separate the art from the artist."  That's a question everyone needs to answer for themselves and there's not really one right answer.  I'm also not dismissing how much it sucks when someone you look up to turns out to be a rotten person.  I went through that myself not too long ago.  There was a comedian who I really respected and admired who really seemed to be one of the few people in the industry who made it while clearly remaining not only someone who was clearly a fundamentally decent human being, but remained humble, down-to-earth, and appeared to have a sincere commitment to making the world a better place.  About a month ago, it came out that he had helped cover up multiple cases of sexual harassment at a company he co-owns, forced some of his colleagues to film a collaborative project in unsafe working conditions, and cast the deciding vote to fire an employee for taking a day off (with the company's permission, I should add) because she needed surgery (among other things).  Honestly, I get upset just thinking about it.  Obviously, what Cosby did was worse, but the point is that you're generally gonna be better off if you find folks to look up to in your own life rather than people who you've never even met.

As for the other part of your post, Harvey Weinstein is likely going to be charged and tried, at the very least.  Kevin Spacey is facing at least three different criminal investigations, so hopefully he'll be charged as well.  So that's two I can think of just off the top of my head.

Thank you. For me, this is tied into reflection on someone from my personal life, too. The pastor who confirmed me, performed my marriage, etc, was recently arrested for child pornography and didn't deny having it. But my thoughts aren't only about me. TV is an interesting medium and Cosby was hugely important for many people.

Viewing Child Pornography is sick enough.  There are serious penalties for that, and rightly so.  But if that's all someone did, they haven't yet harmed others, beyond the economic benefit given to the scum that produce these films and exploit children.  The harm done to others is in maintaining the economic incentive to the scum that produce such materials at the expense of innocent children.

Cosby, on the other hand, CREATED NEW VICTIMS.  Real, live victims.  And he's been that way for some time.
