Not many here seem to want more original names.

Like Kaylin, Jailyn, Emela, Valana, Jashu, ?

Kaylin and Jailyn are anything but original. I kind of like the other three though.

Tentative names I've floated in my mind for my hypothetical child:

Girl's Names:
Amber
Giselle
Krystal
Vega

Boy's Names:
Altair
Rigel
(Honorary mention: Sheldon. Considered it in the past but not a candidate anymore)

As you can see, I'm a big astronomy fan.

Also I'd have to pick a Chinese name for said child, and maybe one for any culture my spouse is part of. That I have not thought of.

I have much more firm and confident feelings about daughter names than son names, at least in terms of my top choices. Some of them are predicated on the race of the mother, some are not.

Umara --- top contender

Raylene
Khari
Diana
Zaara / Zaria

I used to think of naming a baby daughter Amanda. Well, at least until I named myself that.

This might come off as transphobic - and I don't mean for it to be - but I think it's pretty brave to choose a name that somebody transphobic could easily twist into "A man, duh!". If I was transitioning into a woman, that would probably be a deal-breaker for me. You probably have thicker skin than I do.

Haha, yeah, I get it. There's obviously something like that, but I don't know. Tongue I just really like it as a name. It's ok tho, I remember when I told my FTM friend whose deadname is Amanda about my name, and he told me a lot about "a man, duh" jokes and how they're corny.

But don't worry, you're not being transphobic. it's fine lol

I prefer English/American names to most German names, to be honest.

Girls:
- Abigail (my absolute favorite name)
- Amanda
- Anna
- Stephanie
- Isabel
- Susan

Boys:
- Roy
- Richard
- Gordon
- Howard
- Brent
- Craig

I used many of the names above in the novel I'm writing, that's about a womanizer American president, named Gordon Smith, falling in love with a staffer named Abigail.
