It won't be for long time. Almost happened in 2016. Is the US ready for a female president?

2021 is as good a guess as any, but the chances of having a female president then are still less than 50/50.  (Even though there may be about a 50/50 chance that the Democratic nominee is a woman, and I think there's a greater than 50/50 chance that the Democratic nominee will win, it's still less than 50/50 overall the POTUS will be female come January 20 that year).

Either 2020 or 2028. Maybe 2032 at the latest.

You never know. Back in the mid-2000s, who would have thought that we would have our first black president by the end of the decade?

It is entirely plausible that there is some not-so-well-known female who could shape up to become president within another generation from now.

Trump is too unpopular to be re-elected, and the Democrats, I predict, will nominate a woman in 2020, so Jan. 20, 2021 will see the first female President.

Being the first doesn't mean she's going to be popular.  It's probable that half the country will loathe her and she may just last one term.

If there's any woman who's the most likely, its Nikki Haley.  She was the Governor of a very rough-and-tumble state in the Deep South, she won despite not being white, and she was re-elected.  That really is all the qualification she needs, but now she's in an international role and she can very easily run as someone who has foreign policy experience.

I have a hunch that she will be a Governor, not a Senator.

What does that mean?

i just think that she'll need to have executive office experience, a Governor is better prepared for the Presidency than a Senator in my opinion

Haley almost lost to a Democrat in a Republican wave year. I can't see how she could be President.

I don't know, but I hope it's a Republican so we can deny Democrats a major identity-politics accomplishment.

I specifically hope it is Nikki Haley. But I know that's far-fetched at this point.

2020, with either Kamala Harris, Kirsten Gillibrand, or Elizabeth Warren winning.
