If Hiral can net 9k votes from today she'll win, I think there's a 10% chance. Still, this is VER bad for the GOP.

Yikes, looks like Lesko is looking at an Arpaio number here.

Awful, result for Republicans going into the fall.

Looks like Lesko will edge this one out (assuming today's vote goes Tipi, but not by enough to win).  However yet again, House Rs should be terrified at these margins.

Tipirneni will need about 70% of the uncounted ballots to win.

Was expecting a 10 point R win. I'm shocked but glad to be wrong.

Here is something I just don't understand...

why are republicans who hate trump (because they think he is not a true conservative) crossing over to vote for democrats?

The entire reason why trump did so bad in suburbs in both primary and general is because they thought he wasn't a legit conservative. They are going to "punish" him by voting dem?

That's true if what we're seeing counted thus far is only 3/4 of the ballots. However, that'd imply a 200k+ turnout, which I haven't seen floated as feasible. It'd also mean there needs to be like 50k ED votes - I don't think that has happened...?

NYT has called it for Lesko. Kind of odd - they're never usually the first ones to call.

Why do we have two threads on this?

This seems to be the place where the action is, but unfortunately we have multiple threads on Election Night.... Sad

Because Trump has re-branded what "conservative" means.

My guess is a) it's only a 2 year term for the house and b) most reps who hate Trump hate him more for his "attack on democratic norms" then "he likes big spending"

It's official, Republican Debbie Lasko just won the special election in Arizona's 8th congressional district.
