November 7th, 2011:  Michael Bloomberg giving a speech in Phoenix, Maricopa County, Arizona.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen of Phoenix!  Today I'm here to talk about a topic dear to my heart, Immigration Reform.  Now, my position on this issue is as follows, Congress should pass The Dream Act in order to allow illegal immigrants brought here as children, and those who are still children, a path to citizenship in the country they grew up in and call home, because the fact is they aren't Mexicans or South Americans, they're Americans, they know our culture, language, they salute the flag, why shouldn't they be granted the chance to be a citizen?  Also, I believe that we should be willing to give the Republicans a good amount of Border Security in exchange for allowing, hmm, let's call them "Dreamers", for allowing Dreamers a path to citizenship, because we have to get people coming into this Country legally, and have to stop illegal immigration because it only ends up harming the immigrants and their lives, not helping them.

Now, that would just be the first step, but that's where we have to start working in a bipartisan manner to reform our immigration system and help those 12 million people already here.  Thank you Phoenix for your time, God Bless you all, The Great State of Arizona, and The United States of America!

November 13th, 2011:  Michael Bloomberg Giving a speech in North Las Vegas, Clark County, Nevada.

Hello Ladies and Gentlemen of North Las Vegas!!  Today, I'm here to talk about an issue I've recently had a revelation on, Recreational Marijuana.  Now, I've come to the following conclusion:  With Strict Regulation on the production of it, and making sure that it can only be purchased by those 21 and older, Recreational Marijuana should be legalized nationally.  Now, the benefits of such a policy will be a lessening of the overcrowding problem our Prisons have, so we can stop wasting taxpayer dollars on people in prison for an ounce of Marijuana.  Also, this will bring us a significant increase in Tax Dollars, which we can use to help rebuild our infrastructure, as well as help stop overdoses of drugs laced into Marijuana sold illegally.

Overall, the benefits of Legalization far outweigh the costs in my opinion, and I would like to thank Angus, and you, the People for helping me realize that I was wrong on this issue.  Thank you all, God Bless all of you, The Great State of Nevada, and The United States of America!

Turn Four
December 1st - January 2nd

THIS IS THE FINAL TURN BEFORE THE IOWA CAUCUSES

Headlines:

U.S. national debt grows past GDP for the first time since the 1940s
Growing national debt exceeded the total GDP for the United States for the first time since the post-war era as economists become concerned

Former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich sentenced to 14 years in prison for corruption
Court ruled prison time was necessary for the former Governor in accordance with multiple counts, including bribery for President Obama's Senate seat

Iran rejects U.S. request to return drone
After an RQ-170 reconnaissance aircraft belonging to the United States was captured by Iranian forces, the Iranian government refuses to return the drone

2012 campaign bolts head-first into Iowa
With the race tightening and changing in both fields, the race for the nomination is still anyone's game

RCP Job Approval Average (President Obama):

Disapprove: 54%
Approve: 41%
Unsure: 5%

RCP National Average:

Generic Republican: 44%
Generic Democrat: 41%
Michael Bloomberg (I): 7%
Undecided: 8%

RCP Republican Average:

Mike Huckabee: 22%
Jeb Bush: 22%
Rudy Guiliani: 16%
Jim DeMint: 15%
Michelle Bachmann: 12%
Adam Carolla: 1%
Undecided: 12%

With the race for the nomination now heading head-first into Iowa, the race has grown yet more inconclusive, with a tie for frontrunner now in the works. In the newest RCP average, both Huckabee and Bush receive 21 percent, after an enthusiastic push for support from the Huckabee campaign and an energized base. While Bush also gained in the average, in his case by one percent, the numbers should be of mild concern to his campaign, which may be going in a similar direction to Biden's if he doesn't take notice. Although Bush has been running a very well-oiled campaign, his message has been mildly lost in the midst of more grassroots operations by campaigners such as Huckabee, Guiliani, and DeMint.

Guiliani, DeMint, and Bachmann have all seen modest polling increases as their campaigns enter October; while they have not yet been able to crack the spot for frontrunner unlike Huckabee, they still remain in prime position heading into the first electoral contest for the nomination. In addition, with the withdraw of rising star Nikki Haley, it leaves the contest in South Carolina all the more up for grabs. On the other end, Adam Carolla's candidacy has been lost in the midst of the heavy campaigning from the aforementioned campaigns, as while his campaign boasts strong endorsements, his message has fallen by the wayside as of now. If Carolla is able to take up the mantle of chief libertarian in the contest; however, he could make a serious play for the nomination.

RCP Democratic Average:

Michelle Obama: 41%
Joe Biden: 35%
Russ Feingold: 12%
Howard Dean: 4%
Phil Bredesen: 4%
Evan Bayh: 2%
Undecided: 2%

As Obama's campaign gains a healthy lead over Biden's campaign after yet another month of heavy campaigning, major shifts in the lower half of the field began to emerge. A field of four grew to six with the entries of former Governor Howard Dean, 2004 presidential candidate, and former Senator Evan Bayh, who was unseated in the 2010 midterms along fellow candidate Russ Feingold. While both start off with relatively small bases, with both campaigns, there remains much room to grow if they act on their potential. On the other hand, former Senator Feingold's campaign, after taking a minor hit from a gaffe at a rally, mostly stabilized in the national polls after a fiery speech from the Senator himself and well-coordinated damage control efforts. However, all eyes are no longer on the campaigns for the time being, but on Iowa.

Endorsements:

Biden: Jeanne Shaheen, Tom Harkin; Beau Biden, Bill Nelson; Carl Levin, Tom Carper
Bredesen: Blanche Lincoln, Karl Dean; Amy Klobuchar, Kirsten Gillibrand; Joe Donnelly, Al Gore
Feingold: Sherrod Brown, Barbara Boxer; Deval Patrick, Wesley Clark; Bernie Sanders, Elizabeth Warren
Obama: Tom Vilsack, Dave Loebsack; Oprah Winfrey, Hillary Clinton; AFL-CIO, Dick Durbin

Bachmann: Carly Fiorina, Kristi Noem; Phil Bryant, Steve King; Marsha Blackburn, Tom Latham
Bush: Dan Quayle, Kelly Ayotte; John McCain, Rick Perry; N/A
Carolla: Arnold Schwarzenegger, Ron Paul; N/A; Reason Magazine, Drew Pinsky
Christie: Nancy Reagan, Mitt Romney
DeMint: Tim Scott, Bobby Jindal; Buddy Roemer, Lindsey Graham; Trey Gowdy, Ron Johnson
Giuliani: George Pataki, David Vitter; Mark Kirk, Scott Walker; Mitt Romney, Newt Gingrich
Haley: N/A; Sarah Palin, Scott Brown; N/A
Huckabee: Marco Rubio, Chuck Norris; Haley Barbour, Herman Cain; Nancy Reagan, Colin Powell
Trump: Orrin Hatch, Kid Rock; Bob McDonnell, N/A

Bloomberg: Joe Lieberman, Olympia Snowe; Andrew Cuomo, Tom Foley; Charlie Baker, Lincoln Chafee

Endorsements for candidates who have dropped out (denoted by a strike-through) are up for grabs. Semicolons denote turns.

PLEASE READ
Moderator's notes: This turn will last until Thursday night, at 11:59:59 PM CDT. Make sure to PM me ASAP if you need an extension, preferably after you read this sentence. There will be a debate during this turn, posted after the state polling.

You are allowed two endorsements per turn, so make sure to PM me your endorsements so that I can approve of them, and endorsements are first-come, first-serve. Endorsements are now open for IA statewide offices and newspapers for this turn. Endorsements are still first come, first serve, and they do count towards your two-endorsement per turn limit.

This turn will last the month of December and a few days in January before the IA Caucuses. Make sure to schedule your campaign accordingly.

A schedule is required. You can post 20 speeches or no speeches, but what is required for you to post is your schedule. It doesn't have to be detailed, just give me a short description of each day's (or week's) events.

Advertisements: if you poll more than 15% nationally, you may run two advertisements. If you poll between 10% and 15%, you may run one advertisement, and if you poll below 10%, build up your campaign so that next round you can have a shot at running advertisements!

(For the general election: ad thresholds are 5% for one ad, and 7.5% for two.)

Michele Bachmann's Debate Answers

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

I don't see the pro-life views of the Republican Party as a standard issue but I do see it as a morality issue to the Democratic Party. The Democratic Party believes it is a women's right to be able to take the right to life of the fetus. I am here today to say, it is not a women's right to murder a living and moving thing.

That is why I am 100% pro-life and always will be because I believe every living thing should be able to have a right to life which isn't only granted by the constitution it is also granted by God. I am proud to support the unborn fetus because they can't do it themselves. As president, I will put in place Pro-Life legislation to protect the most incident of gods creatures!

While I am up here I would also like to dispell the idea that I can't be a woman and be Pro-Life. The democratic party wants to tell that women can't be both but I and millions of other women prove this wrong. I am proudly 100% Pro-Life, proudly Republican and proudly a woman!

The protestors occupying wall street and the protestors across this country want change because they see a huge income inequality and corruption in their government. The Republican Party needs to address theses protest and tell them where the most income inequality and corruption is happening, In New York and California. Two of the most liberal states and through high taxes and huge government burdens it allowed this to happen under a Democratic president and under Democratic governors. In the campaigns of 2008, President Obama promised change and campaigned on fixing the income inequality. President Obama, you have been president for three years but nothing has, when should we start expecting change?

I have a plan for change so I don't sit around for three years and do nothing like President Obama.
As president, I am going fight corruption within the government by shrinking the government and then firing every corrupt government official taking advantage of the American People. As president, I am going fight for the working class of America. I understand their struggles because my parents were part of the working class of America and we need to help people like my parents so they do fall through the cracks like so many have in the last four years under President Obama.

As president, I am going to bring change. Not the promised change of President Obama, No! Real change on day one because America and the working Americans across this country need it more than ever!

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

President Bush had to bring us through one of the toughest times for our nation after 9/11 and we needed action at that time not change. America did need a change in 2008, President Obama promised us change. President Obama promised us he would fix our economy, President Obama said he would help solve our middle east promise and what has happened, nothing. The Democrat Party says they are the party of change but the truth is the Republican Party is the party of change.

As president, I am going heal our broken economy with my conservative vision for the future of this country. The Bachmann administration will bring real change, it will cut taxes for hard-working Americans, it will cut government and it will start to put this country back on the right track.

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

We need a conservative vision and a pro-business for the future. That is why I am running for president because I believe I am the only one to bring this country into a conservative vision like what Ronald Reagan did. We need a new conservative revolution and I ask you to let me lead it.

Thank you Iowa and Thank you CNN for allowing millions of Americans to hear my conservative vision for the future of this great nation.

Carolla debate answers part 1.
Question 1: A quite standard issue with the Republican Party is the issue of abortion. Where do you stand on this, and would you consider changing current laws to achieve this?

I don’t think the real problem here is what I think it’s what is really going on. I am pro life however I do that if you want a abortion than you should get one just don’t make me pay for it.

Carolla:I want goverment out of abortion completely.  I should not be paying any taxpayer dollars in order so someone I don’t know can have a abortion.  The goverment also should not keep going deeper and deeper into debt with the massive spike in Planned Parenthood spending and funding which I think shouldn’t be mandatory for taxpayers to pay for ya know?   As President one of the ways I will balence the budget is by defunding Planned Parenthood so that not only that the goverment saves a lot more to spend on so that we can focus on different things like modernizing the Milltary and help build NASA. And that the taxpayer saves a lot more of their hard earned cash in their check.

Carolla debate answers part 2
Question 2: Recently, there have been a number of protests over the idea of income inequality, called the "Occupy Wall Street" protests. What do you believe the Republican Party and America as a whole should do to try and address this?
Carolla:Well around last month I went and spoke at the protests and I gave my thoughts by saying I understand the frustrations and the problems  however I think they should protest more peacefully rather than the violence ones they are doing out there.

These corporations are private in name only. They get bigger and more corrupt by the government. By special lobbying and tax loopholes and kickbacks. Just look at the banks and pharmaceutical companies. Don’t tell me that aren’t owned by our government and special interests or simply they have bought them.

That was the problem in 2008 we had a Candidate in this party who was bought and sold for by Goldman Sachs and EilLily groups like that. And the Democrats funny enough claim to fight against this yet you got Barack Obama is basically everything that he fought against in 2008.  We have lobbyists and Wall Street men and woman in there but people thought he was still fine and dandy because he seemed cool while dancing on the Ellen show so that just flows over their head!!

As President I will fight to get lobbying and lobbyists out of our governments and our campaigns.

3.I do think President Bush is a nice guy however he Presidency was far from perfect.  He tripled the deficit, He started unconstitutional spying programs that violate the 4th amendment, started the TSA,Got us into pointless and seems to be endless wars like Iraq, Lied about WMDs and went against his free market principles with his whole bank and GM bailouts.
He did do good things however like what he did in Africa and he was able not to cave to the Democrats when came to renewing the Assault Weapon ban however that’s not enough to make me want another Bush in the White House.  Does this country need 4 more years of a Bush? That is the same answer to the question does America want 4 more years of a Obama that is of course a big fat NO.

4.It’s time for someone new to take this torch which is Amercia and carry it over to someone who isn’t a fat cat in Washington or some career politician and give it to someone who can bring new light into this country and carry it all the way into prosperity and greatness. And let that flame of human liberty just fly and fly while that flame of crony corrupt Washington politics just put it out with a extinguisher .  I’m ready to take on the Washington Machine and defeat it!
Thank you Iowa,Thank you CNN,Thank you people watching,Thank you moderators and thank you most of all the people in the crowd watching here and that are listening to my message!  Good night!!!

This is a great question. I have been watching the protests for a while now and I want to tell them something: Their cause is very, very noble and I think we can all agree that we want income Inequality to cease to exist. The problem is how we do it and that, my fellow Americans, is where we diverge in thoughts. I want to say that the idea of Raising Taxes on the wealthy may be smart sounding but the problem with that is who is to say that the rich won't leave once we raise their taxes or confiscate their wealth? I suggest something different, however. I will confiscate 5% of the wealth of those making over $10 Million a year and distribute that among the lower classes. I will then lower taxes on the Low and Middle Classes and offer subsidies for businesses that are doing well, which will increase their pay and allow them to get more income a year. Once this is done, I believe America will truly be on the way to a kinder, gentler, more equal country.

I think each and every one of us tonight can agree that it doesn't matter if you're a man marrying a man, a woman marrying a woman, or a man marrying a woman, Love is love and if you outright refuse that idea then there is something morally wrong about you. If you want to know how I will address the issue, I will create a new Amendment legalizing same-sex marriage for all citizens for Congress and the states to pass. At the same time, I will sign an executive order that allows states who don't allow homosexual marriage to be punished with a decrease of the federal paycheck to those states. This is to be a gentle nudge to bring them in the right direction but I will not completely force them. Every state has the right to choose what it likes, no matter the issue.

I think you have all heard me say where we stand, that I want to lower it to anywheres between 15-20%. That you all know. It will allow companies to return to America and not be overly taxed by the Government, allowing them to stay in business in America and create a better business market for the country. People will say that me planning to give them a tax rate of 24% is ludicrous but I want to ask if it's ludicrous that the federal government will replenish that money lost in a small tax break by a confiscation of 5% of their wealth yearly. This is what we need America and it may help us fly forward in a better direction, one where America is the leading Job creator and one where the wealthy don't have tax breaks but America will be on the road to progress. My plan is a tax break but Confiscation take, thus negating both.

We are on a new era of politics once again everyone. In this field today we have the first lady and a proud African American woman, Michelle Obama, a senoir ex-Senator and Progressive Vice President, Joe Biden, a Wisconsonian ex-Senator Russ Feingold, a former Vermont Governor Howard Dean, a former Indiana Senator in Evan Bayh and then there's me, the former Governor of Tennessee who up to January of this year was a governor of a southern state. I want people to know that my direction is one of centrist, bi-partisan progress in Congress. One where the nation is going forward to prosperity rather than shackled by a Recession. I am your voice for those who want this. Choose me for the Nomination and then in November and I promise you, we will win a better future for our children and everyone else! Thank you for hosting this debate, Iowa City.

Rudy Giuliani debate answers:

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

I believe that in cases outside of rape, incest, or critical danger to the mother, the unborn child has the god given right to live. I will be a pro-life president and I will fight to make sure that our most innocent citizens are fully protected. I also believe that state and local governments should also have a say in abortion laws, because people across this country differ on what they believe should count.
I will not lie to you. Once upon a time, I considered myself pro-choice. I had a black and white view on abortion, and I once believed that it was such a simple thing to allow one to have complete control of their moral actions. While in office, I started realizing the inexcusable actions of "pro-choice" groups. In office, I fought hard to reduce the amount of abortions, and increase the amount of adoptions in New York City.
The real "pro-choice" is the unborn child's choice to be alive, and I will stand up against democrats in Washington to make sure right-to-life is protected.

Quote

The middle class in America is declining rapidly, its a serious problem that can have disastrous consequences if action isn't taken right now. The solution is simple; stop taxing every last penny from working class Americans, stop spending more than we are taking in, and fight corruption, corporate and in Washington. These protesters have a point, our middle class is shrinking, our economy is failing, our jobs are being shipped overseas.
Yet at the same time, a bunch of these protesters, but not all, believe democrats are the ones who can solve this. For the Occupy Wall Street supporters watching this, no, Democrats will not solve this. They created the problem. Corrupt taxation creates the problem. Outsourcing creates the problem. We need to respond to our citizens and crack down on such failed policy.

Quote
You must be logged in to read this quote.

Right now it is. 4 years of Barrack Obama's failed legislation got us where we are, not Bush's. We, conservatives of America, we are the megaphone of change in a time when our country desperately needs it. We have solutions for the problems, not false hope. We have a new vision for America, one where a parent can have control of their child's education. One where a factory worker doesn't have to go to work worrying if the plant is getting shipped to Mexico or China. One where average people can trust their government, a government that should be fiscally responsible and should be keeping taxes low and keeping our military strong and our people secure. In an age of political darkness, light still shines, and it is shining brighter every single day.

To answer your second question, how I differ from the Republican party of 10 years ago, let me just say this. I have tremendous respect for George Bush, I know him well, he has enormous respect for this country and its people. But i'm not a turn-of-the-century republican. I have seen the careless policies that brought us to this point in time. If I were president back then, I would have been more careful about our strategy in Iraq, the strategy we took brought us to this point. I would have been more careful about our economic standing. We needed to be more careful about our banks and the stability and strength of our economy. As your president I will be tough, but I will never be careless.

Let me just give a moment to thank CNN for hosting this debate, let me thank the other candidates for attending the debate and sharing their views, and let me thank the American people for watching this debate. America is in a difficult situation, but we can solve our problems and fix our country with genuine conservative leadership that puts our country first. Thank you.

Carolla campaigns in Nevada on Immigration reform

There is a problem and it’s a big one that no one seems to talk about. That is the problem of illegal immigration.  We need to build a fence across the Mexican border so that we can prevent people who try to come over here illegally and who are not documented can not sneak it.  More illegal immigrants have came in through our border into our country ever since Obama took office.  His attempts of taking on the issue has been weak and failures.

Since he became president he  allowed a surge in illegal immigrants that come in here and take over our jobs and our companies and keep more Americans out of work.

As President we will strengthen our border and make sure that no one gets into this country without breaking the law. Thank you!
