The conservative meltdown when the Trump family faces unpardonable charges from the State of New York is going to be delicious.

The voluntary addendum seems like the biggest piece to me

That's not unusual, actually. The standard rule for proffers flipping on other suspects (whether for crimes related to yours or not) is the prosecutor guarantees no use of what the suspect/defendant says against them (except for purposes of impeachment or derivative investigation), and the defendant talks with no promises up front for any particular level of leniency for saying ABC vs. XYZ. Helps to keep them a worthwhile witness, even if they get a deal later.

I guarantee that's what's happening here, NOT Cohen flipping out of either the goodness of his heart or uncontrolled rage against Trump.

I love that Atlas has tons of law students, lawyers and/or (former) prosecutors Tongue

And now defense attorneys who've steered more than one client to the path of righteousness and aiding Team Justice (plus in the process kept their ass out of prison for a lot less than were originally facing Tongue).

Yeah, it's not huge.  I just thought it was funny that he ended up not following through with the money.

Yeah seriously. This seems like something that would have come out right after the Cohen raid

There's a theory floating around on Twitter that the leak at this time was Trump's price for backing off on declassifying the FISA documents.

This is fascinating to learn about, but it pretty much cements or speeds up Rosenstein's firing. I don't think it was worth it. Trump should be thanking "the failing New York Times" for giving him this excuse.

Trump has never needed evidence or excuses. He hasn't fired Rosenstein, etc becuase he's afraid of the consequences. He will act when desperation, anger, paranoia, etc outweigh the fear.

I hate this story. While it does not surprise me in the slightest, it will be used by the right wing to further the idea that the DOJ and FBI and Mueller are part of a large conspiracy to bring Trump down and will use that to shut down the investigation. When in reality, what we are seeing is lifelong republicans, so desperate about the levels of incompetence and vile character traits witnessed that even they are showing their frustrations fairly openly.
