As you may have heard by now, Guillermo del Torro's The Shape of Water won the Academy Award for Best Picture last night (I was rooting for Get Out but that was a long shot). I haven't seen the movie yet but has any member of Atlas seen it? If so, what did you think?

Water doesn't have a shape, it conforms to the shape of its container.
I never even heard of this movie.

Plan on it at some point, but that's because I generally like Guillermo Del Toro's movies.

I have been planning to, but I sort of have to be in the mood for that sort of movie.

It's pretty good, though I didn't like it as much as most people did.

I was rooting for I, Tonya or Get Out but those were long shots

I, Tonya wasn't nominated, and I honestly wouldn't have been too shocked if Get Out won.

That's how I saw it. I missed it in theaters and it was the one BP nominee I hadn't yet seen.

No, and I hadn't even heard of it before I saw it won the Oscar.

Not really my type of movie.

So I just finished the movie and I completely understand why it has won so many awards.

No. Bestiality is not really my thing. I don't care if the thing is sentient... so are chimpanzees. That being said, Del Toro is my favorite contemporary director and I'm happy for him. I'm sure I would like the movie if I saw it. I just can't get over the weird premise.

To be honest, it did feel strange at first, but you start to get used to it, and by the end, everything makes sense.
