There are no "flattering" pictures of Trump. He's easily one of the ugliest men I've seen in my life.

Don't talk sh**t about my honey.

This thread is now all about Sanchez, so I'll put in my two cents. I have to say that he does have a point but it gets lost in the victim blaming and stuff. What he's trying to say is that there is a culture of bullying and hate that contributed to a declining mental state for the shooter. And while it is ironic to hear him decry this culture, it's actually right. Can we at least agree on that?

You can support gun control and want kids to treat each other better at the same time.

And on the topic of this thread, the right-wingers doing this are trash.

No, we can't. Because Sanchez hates all that 'PC crap' that is intended to tone down the very culture that gave way to that monster. It's a completely asinine position for him to take.

I'm sure Sanchez cares a lot about, say, trans students being bullied into suicide.

No? I believe better emotional education and allowing victims to actually stand up to their bullies is the best combo....but the Parkland PTA moms don’t like it when lil Kyle gets decked by Billy for running his mouth. We have a culture in schools where students can say any cruel thing they want, and their victims are punished if they get angry enough to respond. It’s why there’s so much pent up aggression in young males.

They want to pimp out their friend’s deaths and make a statement? Well then we the people have the right to answer them. The ultimate victory of the NRA this time around will be an important life lesson for them anyway: you can’t always get what you want.

Mods please ban.

You can leave. You don't have to wait until you're banned.  If you want an echo chamber, go elsewhere.

If I was a betting man, I'd say this thread has around one page left in it before the Locking Brigade arrives: get your jabs in now!

I'll drop my takes in for posterity's sake, and to assuage my ego by offering my opinion on everything:

1. Sanchez is being insane.
2. The fact that these kids are making the tinfoil 2A fundamentalists so paranoid and angry tells me that they're on the right track.

There's plenty of tinfoil on this issue. I just hope that those thinking only banning assault rifles will do won't cause so much static that the incremental changes that might be achievable, such as raising the age to purchase guns, don't get foiled.

Thank you. Freedom includes the freedom to be an idiot. As long as people don't post lies or attacks, I have far better things to worry about than what a random poster posts. Calling people despicable or the like may be cathartic, but it doesn't win arguments.

> supports this man

> complains about a culture of nastiness

The fact that you used an unflattering picture of Trump kind of proves my point. That's basically what you types call a "microaggression." It exposes your inner malevolence.

I never even thought about whether the picture was flattering or unflattering. I used the first picture of Trump talking that appeared on Google image search. Here's a picture of him that I presume is more flattering, given that it's the one he himself uses:

The above man repeatedly engages in bullying, nasty name calling, disrespect in the form of dishonesty, and sexual assault, and his politics profoundly lack empathy. Educating kids against bullying loses credibility when they see that in the real world, a bully is the most powerful man in the world. The kids can see us adults are hypocritical. The anti-bullying educators lose credibility. If you're serious about opposing cruelty, you should drop your support for this man until he sincerely apologizes to all of his victims and accepts accountability (which almost certainly means resigning).

Freedom to be hateful sure, deleting people's post's criticizing these hateful comments but doing nothing with the hateful comments is another thing. What a Joke.

No, you guys have completely failed to enforce a reasonable standard of discussion. Why did Runeghost get tempbanned for supposedly being obnoxious, while posters like Krazey and Sanchez are allowed to roam free and shi't up threads at will?

Runeghost did things like celebrate violence and other things which were beyond simply "being obnoxious".

Really? I don't remember that, but if he did then yeah, a tempban was deserved.

Runeghost doesn't seem the type who would "celebrate violence."
I'm surprised by this.

Krazey is often obnoxious and hyperpartisan, but he usually avoids personal attacks against other posters. In any case, he seldom posts on threads I read, and even less seldom on ones I can mod. But as I've said before, make as much fun of idiotic ideas and posts as you want. It's when it crosses the line from calling posts idiotic to calling posters idiotic that one needs to be careful.

These NRA / far-right freaks are nutjobs.
They are claiming that one particular student, is not actually a student at the high school at all.
But the school has now confirmed that this individual is truly a student.

How difficult could it actually be to confirm if an individual is a student at any school?
Why the hell would they make such a stupid claim, when they know that later they are going to look like fools?
Seems like they are rowing without both oars in the water.

But to them, they don't look like "fools." To them, to believe in something untrue is not foolish, it makes them look better because it shows the strength of their conviction. The more absurd the belief is by so-called objective standards, the more they burnish their passion credentials.

As someone who is from South Florida, I can say with good authority that Parkland kids have tended to be the most preppy, arrogant, nasty, and pampered pack of kids I’ve ever encountered. Barring Boca kids at least. Up until last week my friends and I used to joke about them. My brother even bemoaned starting his job at the Jimmy Johns there because he didn’t want to work with them. The collective reputation of Parkland - and my experiences with Parkland kids - doesn’t change in spite of what happened. They in no way deserved this but I’ll be damned if a group of kids too scared to go down to MLK Blvd in Pompano to protest the regular killings of black youth due to crime/police/etc end up impacting this country’s two hundred year tradition of protecting the sanctity of our rights to bare arms.

They want to pimp out their friend’s deaths and make a statement? Well then we the people have the right to answer them. The ultimate victory of the NRA this time around will be an important life lesson for them anyway: you can’t always get what you want.
