LINCOLN REGION
DECEMBER 2017 ELECTION
OFFICIAL BALLOT

PLEASE READ THE BALLOT CAREFULLY!
YOU DO NOT NEED TO RUSH!

1. This election will last for exactly 72 hours beginning at 12:00:00 AM (Eastern Standard Time) on Friday, February 15 and ending at 12:00:00 AM on Monday, February 19. All ballots cast outside of this period will be counted invalid.

2. You are eligible to vote in this election if you (a) have registered with the federal Census Bureau as a voter of one of the states of this Region; (b) have not had your voting rights stripped as the result of deregistration or court order; and (c) meet all other requirements set forth in Article V of the Constitution of Lincoln

3. When voting for Senate, please rank the candidates that appear on the ballot in order of preference, with "1" indicating your first choice, "2" your second choice, etc. You may rank all, some, or none of the candidates on your ballot. If you wish to vote for a candidate whose name does not appear on the ballot, you may do so by writing his or her name in the blank provided.

4. You are permitted, but not advised, to edit your ballot within 20 minutes of posting it in this thread. Editing your ballot more than 20 minutes after posting it in this voting booth will cause it to be counted invalid.

5. Please check over your ballot thoroughly before you click "Post". You have no excuse for casting a ballot which contains errors or does not accurately reflect your preferences. Failure to correct errors in your ballot may result in its disqualification. While the alphabetically-ordered ballot below is provided for your convenience should you wish to quote this post, you may order the options on your ballot however you would like.

It's been awhile since I counted an election in Lincoln, but shouldn't five delegates have been elected to the Assembly, as there were at least 6 candidates (four declared, plus two write-ins) running?

I would say no because the constitution says "declared candidates" and "appear on the ballot." Write ins aren't officially on the ballot, so they wouldn't count towards the number of people elected to the assembly.

Scott accepted write ins for the Assembly, so the # would be pushed to five, unless I'm missing somebody.

It is absolutely ridiculous if someone can get elected to assembly just by declaring write-in last moment and then voting for themselves.

I'm pretty sure the assumption that it would be 3 is correct, due to the Constitution wording it as "declared" and "on the ballot". So while a write in can win, they wouldn't up the number of seats, since they aren't actually on the ballot.
