I curse a moderate amount, but I don't like doing so. Sometimes when speaking, the swear words come out so naturally and quickly that I'm taken aback by it and make a conscious effort to limit my cursing. In an ideal world, I wouldn't curse at all.

Basically never. Every once in a while something slips out, usual when I'm quoting something without realizing it contains a swear word.

Practically never. When I do swear, it's for a deliberate reason, not because it's part of my casual speech pattern.

This. There are a couple swear words I'm more relaxed about, and some that I would never say under any circumstances, namely racial/sexist slurs.

Never, although I use a fair amount of minced oaths (more than some people like).  When I was little, my mom threatened to wash out my mouth with soap if I cursed, and I was so afraid of being poisoned by the soap (A Christmas Story "soap poisoning," anyone?) that the threat alone was enough to keep my language clean.  The only exception is when I'm quoting something or using the word in a context where it's appropriate (such as hell in a religious setting).

That's not to say those words don't come into my head sometimes, though.  The closest I ever came to swearing for real (and you can judge for yourself if this counts) is when I said, without thinking, that something pissed me off under my breath.  I was embarrassed to hear my thought accidentally spill out into words and never did it again, though I doubt anyone heard me.

I very naturally turn it on and off depending where I am. Even though plenty of people at my workplace do, I almost never do. I also naturally avoid it when speaking with family members. Something in my head, I guess.

At home and with friends, I talk like a sailor.

When I was younger it felt like some marginal effort not to. All my friends did it.

Now it seems like anyone who does swear is just doing it to be extra edgy in an uncreative boring sort of way.

I feel that way when people use it in (written) humor—there are things, I think, that are meant only for verbal communication, and using “f#ck” as a punchline is seeming more and more tacky in either case—but when I try to avoid swearing while maintaining regular patterns of speaking, it becomes painfully obvious. The best I can do is to use “eff” and occasionally “ess” as substitutes.

Very rarely. When I get really angry at something (usually public transportation and people from uni/my ex) I go on WhatsApp and complain to my friends, usually sounding like an, um, authoritarian tyrant. For example, when ultra religious protesters blocked public transportation in Jerusalem, let's just say I suggested measures, such as violent suppression and mass arrests, that my political views don't really fit, lol. But I very rarely swear Tongue
