1. That would have increased the influence of the Democratic establishment (the Clinton wing of the Democratic Party).

2. Hillary's desire to run again would have been greater than it actually is at this moment. Whether or not she actually runs would still depend on how favorable she feels the political conditions are toward her in 2019, but I could see her being a Democratic version of Bob Dole or Richard Nixon under these circumstances.

There would be more pressure for more establishment candidates ( say McAuliffe, Booker...) Clinton would be  more popular, and maybe she'd run in 2020, but I don't really think so.

50 years from 3rd wayers would still be talking about how this proves that we must make sure to never anyone remotely progressive again.
