Family A is actually an Al Queda sleeper cell and is using the flag as a cover to avoid suspicion. Family B is actually an NSA team working undercover to dig up evidence on Family A. So no. Wink

If one believes that patriotism is defined by flag-waving they are deeply mistaken.

certainly not necessarily. Australians are just as patriotic as Americans, but you'd struggle to fine a flag flying in front of more then one or two houses in a suburb.

Hell, they might be, but the presence of a flag doesn't make one housthold more patriotic than the other.

Since I believe that's what the question is asking, I vote 'no.'

The presence of a flag does not in any way mean that the person flying it must be patriotic. I don't know, for example, if car dealers (who seem to fly more flags than anyone else) are the most patriotic group.

They may be, and they may not be.  I wouldn't automatically say no, or yes either.

Also, the definition of patriotism varies form person to person.

Also, patriotism is not a good idea.

It is far preferable to nationalism. And they do mean different things; patriotism means loyalty to country - nationalism means loyalty to a particular ethnic or racial group. Unfortunately, in most of the world that's one and the same.

in countries such as australia and america, countries founded on immigration, nationalism can be used interchangeably with patriotism. I consider myself an Australian nationalist, but the Australian nation includes people of many ethnic groups; ditto America.

It can, but it can also not. Displaying a flag doesn't make you unpatriotic, just like flying one doesn't make you patriotic. Most families on my street (and in my town) fly a flag, but we don't ostracize those that don't.

Yeah, on the trip to Toronto when we drove my sister up for art school, we noticed the biggest American flags were in front of car dealerships, and the biggest Canadian flags were in front of beer factories Tongue
