Reagan in 1980 said it due to a bad economy and a general feeling we were losing to the Soviets due to the Iran hostages and the Afghan invasion so he was invoking nostalgia for the Eisenhower/JFK years of good economy and beating the Russians. Trump said it because the country is getting browner

It means "Let's go back to the days when Jews kept to themselves, blacks were janitors, women never ventured beyond the kitchen, bedroom, and secretarial desk, Hispanics did nothing except mow lawns and pick oranges, gays stayed in the closet, the voting age was higher, and anyone who wasn't a middle-aged or elderly upper-class straight white Christian man knew that they were meant to be seen and not heard whenever they crossed paths with their betters."  Whatever it may've meant when Trump first started using it, it's now basically coded language that bigots use to harken back to the "good old days."  It's like how "America First" is a coded reference the fascist and highly anti-Semitic America First Committee of the early 40s.

And if only the US were a better negotiator, and didn't make bad trade deals, we can bring it all back again (and slash back on redistributionist tax regimes as well). Destroy globalism every way you can. Have some fair and even free trade, but make sure to think about the individual worker in your country. Make sure you strengthen borders, lessen migration, and put each other's country first. If you're in Great Britain, focus on yourselves. If you're in Italy, focus on yourselves. You get the idea.

Make sure, like the Dalai Lama said, not to lose your cultural identity.

Cut taxes, cut immigration, cut regulation, cut spending, cut entitlements, cut cut cut. Less taxation, less regulation, less litigation.

Stop political correctness, especially when the opposing view is vastly outnumbered by the majority. For example, if there is a school of 800 kids and they throw an annual Halloween party and two of the 800 kids don't celebrate Halloween, be sure not to cancel the party. Don't upset 798 to appease two.
