Alright, so here's what the poll is about:
I found several USA communist flags, but I'm not sure which one to use. Vote on these designs! (I lazily named all of them)
The "Glorified Party" flag:

The "Eagle" flag:

The "Gold and Red" flag:

REPUBLICANS GAIN SEATS IN SENATE; HOLD ON TO HOUSE
I couldn't believe what I saw.

It had to be a joke... right?
I clicked on 4 crucial states.

INDIANA
100% Reporting
Rep. Todd Rokita (R): 50.38%
Sen. Joe Donnelly (D): 49.52%
Other: .1%
R GAIN

MISSOURI
98% Reporting
State Attorney Gen. Josh Hawley (R): 53.24%
Sen. Claire McCaskill (D): 47.55%

NORTH DAKOTA
100% Reporting
State Sen. Tom Campbell (R): 49.978%
Sen. Heidi Heitcamp (D): 49.971%

WEST VIRGINIA
100% Reporting
State Attorney Gen. Patrick Morrisey (R): 50.018%
Sen. Joe Manchin (D): 49.916%
Other: .066%
R GAIN

And that was that. Republicans rejoiced as the party not only managed to keep the majority, but increase it. I had no words for what happened, except: "What happens next?"

COMPOSITION OF THE SENATE AFTER 2018 MIDTERMS:
53 Republicans +2
45 Democrats -2
2 Independent (Caucus with Dem.) No change

COMPOSITION OF THE HOUSE AFTER THE 2018 MIDTERMS
228 Republicans -13
207 Democrats +13

Author's note: even though Campbell won by only 25 votes, due to odd ND laws, Heitcamp couldn't request a recount, because you can only do so if you lose by .5% to 2%. If I'm wrong, correct me.

COMMUNIST PARTY REPORTS RECORD MEMBERSHIP NUMBERS AFTER MIDTERMS, BEST SINCE 1960'S
DECEMBER 14, 2018
By Maggie Haberman

The Communist Party of the United States (CPUSA) has reported a large increase in membership numbers, similar to after the 2016 Presidential Election. According to the party's website, they have received nearly 10,000 new membership applications. On top of the current 5,000 members, this would put the party at it's largest amount of members since the early 60's, when almost 10% of the membership were actually undercover agents. Emile Schepers, the CPUSA's International Secretary, said "This just shows how much the people hate the current system. The people see through the lies from both parties, and know that socialism is the only alternative." CPUSA Chairman John Bachtell stated that "Capitalism has failed America, and people are seeing that. We can't let the white supremacists and racists control the government any longer. It's time for an unprecedented change." Other left-wing and far-left organizations, such as the Socialist Party of the United States and Democratic Socialists of America, have seen large membership spikes as well.

Trump says n***er during speech, causing massive backlash
JANUARY 29, 2019
By Charlie Savage

President Donald Trump has reportedly said the "n word" during a speech in Gulfport, Mississippi, causing massive backlash from Republicans and Democrats alike. He said the word after telling the guards to get a black protester out of the area. We have an audio transcript of the confrontation:

Trump, who had a very good year in 2018, currently has an approval rating of 47%. After this comment, however, that can only go down. While Trump had been the presumptive 2020 Republican nominee, he may have a strong primary challenge against him. Possible challengers include John Kasich, Rand Paul, Ted Cruz, and Lindsay Graham. Pundits say that Trump is almost certain to lose, whether it be in the Primary or the General.

This is a developing story.

TRUMP APPROVALS DOWN TO 26% AFTER RACIST COMMENTS

FEB 1 2019
By Avi Selk

President Trump's approval rating has sharply declined in the past week, a new poll by Rasmussen shows.

DO YOU APPROVE OF PRESIDENT TRUMP?
NO..........68%
YES.........26%
UNSURE....6%

The poll was conducted immediately after Trump reportedly said the "N word" during a speech in Mississippi. Trump has denied this, claiming that the media has fabricated the whole thing. Those sentiments are present in this tweet from yesterday:

This tweet sparked controversy over punishing those who make "fake news". Trump has been denounced by almost all senators in congress, including top republican names such as Rand Paul, Lindsay Graham, and John McCain. Trump's approval rating is projected to continue downwards, possibly into the high teens, by the end of the week.

woah a tiny pov section because this segment doesn't fit into the headline format

Donald

Donald Trump glanced at the television in the corner. The results of several new polls came out, but Fox News was covering the one with the best numbers for him.
DO YOU APPROVE OF PRESIDENT TRUMP?
NO......60%
YES.....33%
UNSURE....7%
It was looking grim for him. He had to do something to distract the public, to make sure he could cruise to re-election easily. Something that could be easily praised by liberals. His mind drowned in this thought. What could he do?

A headline scrolled by on screen.

SEVERAL NATIONS PLACE INCREASED SANCTIONS ON MYANMAR AS ROHINGYA MUSLIM GENOCIDE CONTINUES

Perfect.
He picked up the phone and dialed his secretary.

          "Yes, Mr. President?"
"Get me on the line with Huckabee Sanders. We've got a big announcement for the media."

sorry that it's short

FOX NEWS FIRST: WHITE HOUSE ANNOUNCES SANCTIONS TO MYANMAR, PATH TO IMMIGRATION TO USA FOR ROHINGYA GROUPS
FEB 5 2019
By Charles Krauthammer

The White House made an announcement today that they would seek sanctions on Myanmar for the continued Rohingya Muslim genocide.
Sarah Huckabee Sanders making the announcement earlier today.

The White House also announced that they would seek to form a path for immigration to the United States for the Rohingya.
The announcement was met with approval from moderate Republicans as well as Democrats,
although the Democrats are appearing to be very cautious after the president allegedly made racist remarks last week. More conservative Republicans, however, have blasted Trump for "Abandoning his values" and "letting his supporters down with this latest decision." Many also say that this is just to distract the public from his comments last week.

How Popular has Trump been in 2019 by Month?

JUL 1, 2019
By Nate Silver

President Trump has seen his approval drop significantly since the beginning of the year, mostly due to his use of derogatory and racist words during a campaign event at the end of January. As the Democratic nomination nears closer, we wanted to show how Trump has been seen in the public eye.

January 1, 2019
Disapprove: 48%
Approve: 47%

February 1, 2019
Disapprove: 64%
Approve: 30%

March 1, 2019
Disapprove: 57%
Approve: 35%

April 1, 2019
Disapprove: 55%
Approve: 37%

May 1, 2019
Disapprove: 54%
Approve: 39%

June 1, 2019
Disapprove: 55%
Approve: 41%

July 1, 2019
Disapprove: 55%
Approve: 41%

As you can see, Trump's approval has slowly regained numbers, while disapproval appears stuck at 55%. This spells badly for re-election chances, but with a relatively large democratic field and over a year left until the election, anything can happen to give Trump a second term.

The Democratic Primary Field is Set. Who's Running?

Jul 5, 2019
By Avi Selk

The deadline to file for the Democratic presidential nomination has just passed. There are several dozens of candidates running, however, only 10 have held office, and those are the ones we will be covering.

John Delaney
Representative for Maryland's 6th district
Announced July 28, 2017

John Delaney announced a longshot bid for the presidency almost 2 years ago. He still appears to have no real shot at the presidency, his only hope would possibly be his home state of Maryland, but it's unlikely he gets that far.

Fredrica Wilson
Representative from Florida's 24th district
Announced November 14, 2018

Fredrica Wilson, a large critic of President Trump, announced her candidacy after the midterms. She, much like Delaney, has very little chance outside of her home state and has constantly polled at 1% or less.

Cory Booker
Senator from New Jersey
Announced January 28, 2019

The first big name to announce a run, Booker enjoys support from the majority of those who supported Clinton in the 2016 primaries. Booker has shifted to the left on many issues since 2016 in an attempt to appeal to some who voted for Senator Sanders in 2016. He is polling around 20%.

Martin O'Malley
Former Governor of Maryland
Announced Feb 5, 2019

The 2016 presidential hopeful announced a second run for the presidency in February, making yet another longshot bid. He has polled at just below 4%, which is a small improvement on his 2016 run.

Elizabeth Warren
Senator from Massachusetts
Announced Feb 5, 2019

The progressive Senator from Massachusetts announced her run a mere half an hour before Senator Jeff Merkley. They are both fighting bitterly over voters that supported Bernie Sanders in the 2016 primary. She has been polling around 19%.

Jeff Merkley
Senator from Oregon
Announced Feb 5, 2019

The only Senator to endorse Bernie Sanders in 2016, Merkley is labeling himself as the "True Progressive" while attacking Senator Warren for not supporting Sanders in 2016. He has been polling around 17%.

Kamala Harris
Senator from California
Announced Mar 12, 2019

The Junior Senator from California hopes to be a "middle ground" between progressives and more centrist liberals within the party. She has been polling around 16%.

Eric Garcetti
Mayor of Los Angeles
Announced Mar 17, 2019

The Mayor of Los Angeles surprised several by announcing a presidential run, saying that although he may not be a Federal or Statewide politician, he has the experience needed for the presidency. He is polling at 2%.

Tulsi Gabbard
Representative from Hawaii's 2nd Congressional District
Announced May 10, 2019

Despite several worries within the progressive wing of the democrats that the vote could be split too far, Gabbard announced a run for the presidency in early May. She has been polling around 3%.

John Hickenlooper
Former Governor of Colorado
Announced July 3, 2019

A last minute announcement from the former Governor surprised several pundits, as the Governor had previously stated he had "No interest in running for president in 2020". He appeals to the more moderate voters within the party, especially the Blue Dogs. He has been polling around 7%.

Overall, polling shows that 10% of Democratic Primary voters are undecided. This many candidates is bad for the party, which requires unity in order to defeat President Trump.

DEMOCRATIC HOPEFULS CAMPAIGNING IN IOWA

AUG 7, 2019
by Jane C. Timm

Several of the challengers for the democratic nomination have been campaigning in Iowa over the past few months. Let's take a look at how their campaigns have done so far.

Warren campaigning in Davenport in July

Elizabeth Warren, as well as her Progressive challenger Jeff Merkley, have been running grassroots campaigns akin to Bernie Sanders' campaign back in 2016, where he very narrowly lost the state. They have been attacking each other for not being the "True Progressive".

Merkley in Mason City

John Hickenlooper in Dubuque

Former Governor John Hickenlooper has been campaigning hard in this state, attempting to get as much momentum as he can. He has run a very moderate campaign, saying in a speech that "Extremism will only doom the party to fail against Trump next year."

Cory Booker in Des Moines

Cory Booker has been leading in the state's polls for a while now, but he has been trying to widen the gap further and to capitalize on the divide between the progressives within the party.

Tulsi Gabbard in Waterloo last week

Possibly the oddest event of the campaign so far happened in a Tulsi Gabbard rally in Waterloo, Iowa, where one supporter held a sign that read "TRANS TURTLES FOR TULSI". It is still unknown who the person was holding the sign, but it has sparked much confusion. Gabbard has been trying to sway some progressives within the state to vote for her, saying she is less divisive than Warren and Merkley.

IOWA POLLING
Cory Booker: 26%
Elizabeth Warren: 16%
Jeff Merkley: 16%
Kamala Harris: 11%
John Hickenlooper: 10%
Tulsi Gabbard: 4%

CHAIRMAN OF CPUSA ASKS FOR AMERICAN SOCIALIST PARTIES TO COME TOGETHER FOR "UNITY OF THE WORKING PEOPLE"

DEC 12, 2019
By Maggie Haberman

The Communist Party of the United States, whose membership is now nearing 40,000 is calling for a coalition of far-left parties.

Bachtell making a speech yesterday on uniting the far-left

The list of parties asked to unite are as follows, as confirmed by a CPUSA press release.

-Freedom Socialist Party
-Party for Socialism and Liberation
-Peace and Freedom Party
-Socialist Action Party
-Socialist Equality Party
-Socialist Alternative
-Socialist Party USA
-Socialist Worker's Party
-Worker's World Party
-Liberty Union Party of Vermont

It is unknown if Bachtell's efforts will pay off, but if they do, the alliance could be formidable, as all of these parties have seen membership grow quickly since 2016 and the election of President Trump.

"I will keep fighting against Trump, but it will be as a Representative. I must focus on representing the people of Florida, and as such I am suspending my campaign."

"And it is with a heavy heart that I must announce that I am suspending my presidential campaign."

GREEN PARTY, DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS OF AMERICA TO JOIN IN COALITION OF LEFT WING TO FAR-LEFT PARTIES

By Jane C. Timm

Feb 5 2020

The Green Party of the United States and the Democratic Socialists of America, two left-wing organizations, have announced they are planning to join into the "Left Front" coalition, as it is now being dubbed by pundits. The coalition was originally for far-left organizations, but these two parties have already worked their way into the negotiations, and are both socialist in nature. If membership numbers stay the same, this "Left Front" party will have a membership of at least 500,000. Negotiations between the parties to work on a platform, what the party will look like, etc. are expected to end within just a few days. The alliance has already announced they will field a presidential candidate. Primaries are likely to be quick, due to how quickly the filing deadline is nearing. Possible presidential candidates include famous linguist Noam Chomsky, Virginia Delegate Lee Carter, and Gloria La Riva, who received 0.05% of the vote as the candidate of the Party for Socialism and Liberation in 2016.
