DEMOCRATIC HOPEFULS CAMPAIGNING IN IOWA

AUG 7, 2019
by Jane C. Timm

Several of the challengers for the democratic nomination have been campaigning in Iowa over the past few months. Let's take a look at how their campaigns have done so far.

Warren campaigning in Davenport in July

Elizabeth Warren, as well as her Progressive challenger Jeff Merkley, have been running grassroots campaigns akin to Bernie Sanders' campaign back in 2016, where he very narrowly lost the state. They have been attacking each other for not being the "True Progressive".

Merkley in Mason City

John Hickenlooper in Dubuque

Former Governor John Hickenlooper has been campaigning hard in this state, attempting to get as much momentum as he can. He has run a very moderate campaign, saying in a speech that "Extremism will only doom the party to fail against Trump next year."

Cory Booker in Des Moines

Cory Booker has been leading in the state's polls for a while now, but he has been trying to widen the gap further and to capitalize on the divide between the progressives within the party.

Tulsi Gabbard in Waterloo last week

Possibly the oddest event of the campaign so far happened in a Tulsi Gabbard rally in Waterloo, Iowa, where one supporter held a sign that read "TRANS TURTLES FOR TULSI". It is still unknown who the person was holding the sign, but it has sparked much confusion. Gabbard has been trying to sway some progressives within the state to vote for her, saying she is less divisive than Warren and Merkley.

IOWA POLLING
Cory Booker: 26%
Elizabeth Warren: 16%
Jeff Merkley: 16%
Kamala Harris: 11%
John Hickenlooper: 10%
Tulsi Gabbard: 4%
Martin O'Malley:2%
Others: 2%
Undecided: 13%

CHAIRMAN OF CPUSA ASKS FOR AMERICAN SOCIALIST PARTIES TO COME TOGETHER FOR "UNITY OF THE WORKING PEOPLE"

DEC 12, 2019
By Maggie Haberman

The Communist Party of the United States, whose membership is now nearing 40,000 is calling for a coalition of far-left parties.

Bachtell making a speech yesterday on uniting the far-left

The list of parties asked to unite are as follows, as confirmed by a CPUSA press release.

-Freedom Socialist Party
-Party for Socialism and Liberation
-Peace and Freedom Party
-Socialist Action Party
-Socialist Equality Party
-Socialist Alternative
-Socialist Party USA
-Socialist Worker's Party
-Worker's World Party
-Liberty Union Party of Vermont

It is unknown if Bachtell's efforts will pay off, but if they do, the alliance could be formidable, as all of these parties have seen membership grow quickly since 2016 and the election of President Trump.

It's a pretty interesting scenario, and I say this as someone who is far from being a socialist.

"The people have made their choice, and that choice is not me. I am suspending my campaign today."

"I will keep fighting against Trump, but it will be as a Representative. I must focus on representing the people of Florida, and as such I am suspending my campaign."

"And it is with a heavy heart that I must announce that I am suspending my presidential campaign."

"We did better than last time, but it is obvious the American people don't want me, and as such I am suspending my campaign, and will not run for president again."

GREEN PARTY, DEMOCRATIC SOCIALISTS OF AMERICA TO JOIN IN COALITION OF LEFT WING TO FAR-LEFT PARTIES

By Jane C. Timm

Feb 5 2020

The Green Party of the United States and the Democratic Socialists of America, two left-wing organizations, have announced they are planning to join into the "Left Front" coalition, as it is now being dubbed by pundits. The coalition was originally for far-left organizations, but these two parties have already worked their way into the negotiations, and are both socialist in nature. If membership numbers stay the same, this "Left Front" party will have a membership of at least 500,000. Negotiations between the parties to work on a platform, what the party will look like, etc. are expected to end within just a few days. The alliance has already announced they will field a presidential candidate. Primaries are likely to be quick, due to how quickly the filing deadline is nearing. Possible presidential candidates include famous linguist Noam Chomsky, Virginia Delegate Lee Carter, and Gloria La Riva, who received 0.05% of the vote as the candidate of the Party for Socialism and Liberation in 2016.

Kamala

How the hell did that Assad-loving P.O.S. edge me out? the Senator thought. Sure, it was only by 80 votes, but Gabbard somehow outperformed her polling for the second time. It was good that California was coming soon, she reflected. That was going to be all the momentum she needed. Still, as she watched the CNN coverage of the primary, many pundits said "The Harris campaign is in a death spiral... only a matter of time before she drops out...the nomination will be decided by who she endorses..." There was still some good news. That orange buffoon came close to losing the second primary to possibly the weakest #NeverTrump candidate. Still, they talked non stop about her campaign, and not how Flake came within 10 points of beating an incumbent president in a primary. She knew as more and more networks had that rhetoric, the more hopeless her campaign staff and supporters felt. She just hoped for a different story to come in and stop them saying how "dead" her campaign was...

"THIS IS CNN BREAKING NEWS. PLEASE STAND BY FOR A MAJOR BREAKING NEWS STORY."

Anderson Cooper: We have some distressing news from Washington today as Senator John McCain from Arizona suddenly collapsed on his way to the Capitol Building. He is currently in severe condition at George Washington University Hospital, doctors currently say that McCain suffered from a massive brain hemorrhage. Doctors are also unsure of his odds of survival.

30 minutes later

Wolf Blitzer: Tragedy has struck Washington today, we have just received word that Senator John McCain has died at George Washington University Hospital. The Senator had been battling a brain tumor for over 2 years now, but had managed to continue his tenure in the senate despite the difficulties caused by it. Our deepest condolences go out to his family as they deal with this tragic loss.

Later that night

Cooper: Arizona Governor Doug Ducey has announced that he has spoken to, and has chosen the late Senator's wife, Cindy McCain, to fill the seat her husband held before his death today. A special election will occur on election day 2020.

FIRST LEFT FRONT CANDIDATES FOR CONGRESS DECLARE AS NEGOTIATIONS END

By  MICHAEL D. SHEAR

Feb 17 2020

The first candidates for the newly founded "Left Front" alliance have declared their congressional candidacies today, although no presidential candidates have declared as of yet. These candidates are:

Virginia's 1st District: Lee Carter
Carter during a chamber meeting as another delegate flashes a hammer and sickle behind him

The Delegate from Virginia's 50th district is the only Left Front candidate to try and run under a joint Left Front-Democratic ticket. A member of the Democratic Socialists of America and the Industrial Workers of the World, he has been ridiculed several times for his ideology, and is likely to receive some primary challenge. If he succeeds, he will face incumbent Rob Wittman.

Washington's 9th District: Kshama Sawant

The well-known councilwoman from Seattle is now running for Congress against incumbent Adam Smith. She has had her deal of controversy, especially on her stances on Israel. However, she is considered quite popular in her Council district, which may counteract that. Before becoming part of the Left Front, she was a member of the Socialist Alternative party.

California's 28th District: Tom Morello

The most surprising announcement so far, famous guitarist Tom Morello, who was the guitarist for Rage Against the Machine, Audioslave, and now the group Prophets of Rage, is running for congress. This was especially surprising due to the fact that if he manages to win he will likely leave the band to become a part of "the system", albeit a very rebellious part of it. He will be running against incumbent Adam Schiff.

It'd be really hard for a commie to win a House election in VA-01 as it's a R+8 district.

Still, really interesting!
