The Year Was 1986, Part IV
In the Shadow of Two Midterm Posts (Part I)

Democrats – 56 seats (▲7)
Independent (caucusing with Democrats) – 1 seat (–)

The race was fairly close prior to three women making statements to the Seattle Times accusing Adams of sexual harassment in October. Four more women made statements shortly after his defeat.

Wisconsin:
√ Herb Kohl (Democratic) 52.6%
Bob Kasten (Republican, incumbent) 46.0%
Scattered (Independent/Libertarian) 1.4%

The Year Was 1987, Part I
The Clown Car Cometh

Hart, Stressing Ideals, Formally Enters 1988 Race

April 8, 1987 - After speculation in the election of 1984, Delaware Senator Joe Biden has finally decided to take the plunge and run for President. With a young, moderate image, 14 years of Senate experience, and great speaking ability, he is seen as a particularly formidable choice.

Undecided: 22%
Fmr. Sen. Hart: 15%/19%
Rev. Jackson: 14%/18%
Sen. Kennedy: 12%/15%
Gov. Dukakis: 10%/13%
Gov. Clinton: 9%/11%
Sen. Biden: 9%/11%
Fmr. Gov. Brown: 5%/7%
Fmr. Gov. Babbitt: 4%/6%

Republicans: If your state's primary were held today, who would you vote for?
Pres. Bush: 64%/78%
Rev. Robertson: 18%/22%
Undecided: 18%

Military forces are in Alaska right now. No timetable just yet, though.

And now, for a desperate ploy for attention because I've been too focused on the future as opposed to the now. Should I retool this TL into longer "essays" regarding each year, rather than a series of articles?

Opened a strawpoll for this.

We know that Bush is the frontrunner on the Republican side.

With such a great number of big names in the Democratic race (Kennedy, Jackson, Dukakis, Brown, etc.), this will be a pretty competitive race. What do the primary polls look like?

I said at the end of the post. Though there are still a few names I haven't revealed yet, so...

none of the candidates seem to be making the Soviet occupation of American soil a major campaign issue. Any reason why?

I assume all of this would heavily boost Bush. I honestly feel like he’d be the best candidate to handle such an event too. I mean I still love some of those Democrats, but I sense a Bush effect is gonna happen. I believe World War 3 matters a lot more to voters than whatever Robertson’s running on.

Discontinuing this timeline, out of boredom, writer's block, and a variety of other things. Will likely post sh**t taking place in this universe in other threads, though.
