Russia's actions are so over the line that even f***ing Zeman, one of Putin's worst stooges in all of Europe, went on TV and called for sanctions and disconnecting Russia from Swift. Or was told to go on TV and say it. Either way, a good thing.

Anyway, how about some Czech music?

Dear friends, we called this song "Well-Meaning Advice"

Go home Ivan, Natasha is waiting for you
Go home Ivan, girls here don't love you
Go home Ivan, Natasha is waiting for you
Go home Ivan, and don't come back!

Ivan used to be a very nice boy
He lived in a small village, but then he was sent to another village
And who did he leave behind? Natasha!

Go home Ivan, Natasha is waiting for you
Go home Ivan, girls here don't love you
Go home Ivan, Natasha is waiting for you
Go home Ivan, and don't come back!

So what's the matter with you, Ivan?
Are you pretending you can't hear?
You don't want to let Natasha mary Volodya, do you?

Go home Ivan, Natasha is waiting for you
Go home Ivan, and don't come back!
Ever!

Between September 23-24 were hold the local elections in all the country (6254 municipalities) plus the renoval of 1/3 of the Senate (27 seats, FPTP with runoff if not win with 50%+1), ANO-SPD opposition plus President Zeman sees the elections as a referendum of the Fiala' cabinet, but not necessary will fulfil their hopes.

Senate seats up to reelection by current political groups:
KDU-ČSL: 7/12
STAN: 6/24
Proregion (ANO/ČSSD): 6/9
ODS/TOP09: 5/27
SEN21/Pirati: 2/7
Independent: 1/2

Major Senate districts up are 3 from Prague, 2 from Brno, 1 each in Plzeň city and Ostrava city, plus main seats in Karlovy Vary, Ústi nad Labem, Liberec, Pardubice, Jihlava or Olomouc.

The main municipal election is at the Prague city council composed by 65 seats (PR, 5% threshold), currently with a coaltion led by the Pirates, local party Praha Sobě, TOP 09, STAN and KDU-ČSL, while ANO and ODS were in opposition.

Only three senators were elected yesterday at first round, 2 from the SPOLU area and 1 from ANO, the other 24 districts will be decided by runoffs next weekend on October 1-2

Prague city election results, probably the nationwide coalition will be repeated at local level:

Summary results for second round, SPOLU' parties gain a lot of districts and seems Babis' strategy to seem the election as a referendum backfired very well. Still very low turnout (19%)

Presidential elections are scheduled for next weekend, 13 and 14 January. So far polls are showing a tight 3-way race between Babiš, Pavel and Nerudová. Other candidates have a low voting share and in an imminent 2nd round, both Pavel and Nerudová are predicted to defeat Babiš easily. On the other hand, a Pavel vs Nerudová match would be very close.

The last poll, from STEM:

27.9% Babiš
26.7% Pavel
24.4% Nerudová
  6.4% Fischer
  5.4% Bašta
  3.4% Hilšer
  3.0% Středula
  1.6% Diviš
  1.4% Zima

2nd round poll, also from STEM:

57.0% Pavel
43.0% Babiš

57.0% Nerudová
43.0% Babiš

50.0% Pavel
50.0% Nerudová

STEM poll conducted between 2 and 4 January 2023. Polled 2,008 voters.

  6.7% Fisher

Still some votes out from Prague. Pavel could still surpass Babis. Nonetheless, a 2nd round between Babis and Pavel is on.

Just a 12,510 vote difference between Babis and Pavel with 98% counted. Pavel seems on track to surpass Babis with the remaining Prague votes.

I didn't realize this race was happening until this morning, and just went on a binge reading about it. Nothing makes me sadder than Janeček failing to qualify.

Big congratulations to Pavel, I suppose.

Look like a disastrous result for Nerudová. Does anyone knows why she underperformed her polling numbers so badly?

I assume it's because many of her potential voters decided to cast a ballot for Pavel instead.
