Hope this is bad for PiS and good for the democratic parties.

Exit poll says PiS takes 10 out of 16 voivodeship Sejmiks. PO/N takes the rest.
Although it surely won't be in government in all 10 of them because of lack of coalition partners. A better question is - in which voivodeships PO+N+PSL+SLD don't have a majority?

Possible coalitions in Polish voivodeships, assuming that PSL and SLD don't form coalitions with PiS. Of course, in some cases coalitions can be extended.

Lublin PIS
Lubusz KO+PSL+SLD, KO+PSL+BS, KO+SLD+BS
Łódź PIS
Lesser Poland PIS
Masovia KO+PSL
Opole KO+MN
Subcarpathian PIS
Podlaskie PIS

Silesia KO+PSL+SLD
Świętokrzyskie PIS
Warmian-Masurian KO+PSL

RIP Sad
So there would be a repeat election for mayor of Gdansk or the mayor will be chosen by the city council?

Tactical opposition voters due to fear that PSL won't cross the threshold?

I hope PiS loses majority. But I'm not so hopeful if the balance of power will be held by Konfederacja...

It would be hilarious if the constant drumbeat of OPPOSITION UNITY against the hordes of blood-sucking rurals accidentally legitimised the most rural party of them all in the eyes of urban liberals.

Of course, those voters who abstained today but will vote in 2 weeks are a complete mystery. Plus, a lot can happen in these 2 weeks.
According to exit polls, people over 65 had the lowest turnout. Maybe more of them will vote in the second round?

It's always funny to see candidates who managed to collect 100,000 signatures required to be on the ballot ending up with a negligible number of votes.
But how do they manage to collect so many signatures? Paying money for them? Getting help from a bigger party (in Serbia it's often alleged that the dominant party SNS collects signatures for smaller allied and/or spoiler parties)?

The "SJW candidate" was Biedroń, not Holownia.

Interesting that overseas voters in North America being more right wing is a thing for pretty much every country that has overseas voting that I know of. In the US I guess it's explained by osmosis from the Republicans and much more conservative public discourse, but I wonder why this is happening in Toronto - it's not like Fordismo has a huge media presence or an influential political party (seeing that everyone hates Dough now). Perhaps more culturally conservative people moving to places with larger Polish communities, i.e. only Toronto?
Or it has to do with nature of emigration (economic vs. political). As a rule, political emigrants from (post-)communist countries are more right-wing than economic emigrants.

The PM has dismissed Gowin (one of the ministers), which means that Gowin's party (Porozumienie, or Agreement in English) goes into opposition and the government probably loses its majority in the parliament.
