I think the governors lists make sense with partisan control, but don't see some folks become governor that late. Like Conor Lamb or Nanette Barragan. Just look at current governors, how many of us have heard of them a decade ago? Even when you followed politics closely at the time.

True but Connor Lamb for example really only is a member of congress this early due the Trump backlash while here he probably makes a rise from the state legislature. Many of the later ones I picked someone whos currently a young politician in the state legislature.

Random issue with this timeline I was just thinking about: Elise Stefaniks role is wholly unrealistic. Her entire path to political relevance entirely depended on Obama being re-elected in 2012 for her to join Congress in 2014. With Romney elected in 2012, she never joins Congress, and never becomes relevant.

She would have a different path to political relevance and given her age she has plenty of opportunities to take advantage of an opportunity.

Bump.

Great timeline. I'm new here if you haven't known already. But I've actually read your timeline not too long ago. Anyways, it makes me furious that Romney isn't President right now. I would take him over anybody else. Yes, this even includes Al Gore in 2000 despite being different political parties.

Thanks, yah same here.

Out of any Post WW2 elections(possibly before that too) if I had to choose one election which I could change the outcome of it would easily be 2012.

President Obama's Concession Speech

Obama : Thank You Thank You. A short while ago I spoke with Governor Romney to congratulate him on being elected the 45th President of the United States. I also had the chance to invite him to the White House to talk about making sure there is a successful transition between our presidencies. Now that Governor Romney has been elected President, we are all rooting for his success because his success is now all of our success.  Due to this it will be my number one priority over the next two and a half months to make sure this is the smoothest transition in history, so President-Elect Romney can hit the ground running when he takes office on January 20th.

I also want to thank all my supporters here tonight for all the hard work you put in both my winning campaign in 2008 and losing campaign this year, because without you I never would have had the honor of being this great nation's President(Applause). While you may be disappointed tonight, as I certainly am, you should never lose hope because at the end of the day it is not the President who is the biggest driver of change, it is you(Crowd chanting Obama 2016). No my time in politics has ended , but the fight for the ideas we believe has not(Applause). Thank You again for all your support , May God Bless You and May God Bless the United States of America.

Of course Obama would’ve said something like this had he lost just over a decade ago instead of what 45 did. No “I won this election by a lot” or trying to overturn the election

Even if Obama lost the election today , he’d say something closer to this than to what Trump said . While I dislike Obama’s politics and policies , he is clearly a better person than Donald Trump .
