I must admit, I'm a dog person. However, I always preferred labs, retrievers, and bigger sized dogs. Also, when I was a kid we always bought pure breds, and it was very rare for anyone to want or suggest pet "adoption".

It's clear millennials have a massive obsession on pets. Everyone I know who is my age makes me out to be some animal hater because I don't feel like having a dog and I think it's a little crazy to take dozens and dozens of photos of dogs and cats every day.

What has caused millenials pet obsession?

people are like "why don't millennials want kids?" but it's because the people who raised us did a sh!t job at being parents and we'd rather not be miserable like them.

My grandmother seems to think I'm the worst person in the world because I'm not Catholic, and my parents think they're above me as well, when my parents are both alcoholics and I'm the first generation to attend any kind of university. It's hilarious how they claim I'm a bad person when they're the ones who screwed up their life, and they just want me to screw up mine too. When they get old and come begging me for money for medical care, I'll tell them to f!ck off and let them die homeless.

the old people claim millenials are entitled, but the baby boomers are the most entitled generation ever to exist (ask absolutely anyone who works in food service or retail) and the reason America lost the Vietnam War. They project their insecurity on us

That, plus the fact that we can barely afford to pay rent on our Boomer-owned homes, let alone spend money on anything/anyone else.

Basically, we aren't going to rush into stupid decisions (like having children at 20) that will make us miserable, unlike our parents. Which makes pets a good alternative.

I saw someone from my area on the internet complaining about the Walmart and saying people my age are "generation trashy" which is funny, because teenage pregnancy rates are at an all time low, teenage drug and alcohol use is at an all time low, but the mere fact that some of us have piercings makes us bad. Like lol.

Who is “we”? I know people my age who did this. And not all of “us” “millennials” have or had sh#t parents. You don’t need to externalize your negative experience. I happen to not have kids because I’m single, in education, and 22; nothing to do with hating Gen-Xer’s.

And Reaganfan, I’m not too much of a pet guy either, but it’s clear from your list of grievances that they’re intended to mask a deeper antipathy for the human experience in general.

gen x isn't even that bad... its usually baby boomers who suck and try to make millennials feel bad about existing.

and what is the divorce rate again? I'm sure that most millennials grew up without both parents in the home

also, you think millennials have "antipathy for the human experience" so you're better than millennials who like pets? you're above everyone else?

I’m saying Reaganfan has antipathy for the human experience. He lacks basic feelings such as sympathy or tolerance.

Please elaborate

There is indeed nothing worse than owning one of those grotesque creatures to signal one's own poverty and to ensure that you are permanently in that state. If it were up to me, I'm torn between allowing the competition to throw away their wealth and also wanting to terminate all encounters with those animals on the city sidewalks.

Millennials are the most empathetic generation in history so naturally they would want pets.
