Picture: Name: Andrew Kolb Hilton DoB: May 27, 1845 Home State: Florida Previous Office(s): Mayor of Key West Party: Reactionist Bio: He is the son of Robert Benjamin Hilton, the Representative for Florida. Andrew was originally close to his father, but grew to hate him after he successfully sponsored a bill in January 1864 to withdraw the exemption from military service that had previously been granted to men of military age if they could provide a paid substitute. As for his own military experience Andrew sadly missed his opportunity to fight as he was far too busy "gaining experience" and "training." Andrew began his political carer when he became mayor of Key West after hearing about abolitionists in the area and that some were even adopting Negros into their families. During his tenure he clamped down on abolitionists and made sure that the wealthy were given the privileges that they deserved. He became one of the first members of the Reactionist party as he had strongly campaigned for Louis Wigfall in Florida. He was content with his local position until Isham G. Harris successfully repealed the 20 Negros Act. Hilton decided that the best way to help his cause was to run for president and to receive enough electoral votes to prevent either candidate from winning to remind them that they must pander to people like him if they want to win elections.
Issue Stances: Mexican Intervention: Against why should we waste noble white lives on worthless territory held by an inferior race only to waste our time and money dealing with those people after we take over Mexico. Anglo-American War: Propose that we keep the Union friendly. Nation: In the areas we currently hold we should focus on industrialization, but in the west we should focus on agricultural. New National Bank: We do not need a big government controlling the bank, we must follow in Andrew Jackson`s steps and give the power to local banks. 50 Negros Act: Against why should we force those who have succeed in life to waste their abilities with the common soldiers when so many have lead those men as generals. The 20 Negros Act itself didn`t go far enough, we need the 10 Negros Act instead.
