I think one of Chick's strength is the way he delicately captures realism in everything he does:

BUT THEN TOMMY FINDS JESUS!

ANOTHER VICTORY FOR JESUS

If you think the tracts so far are great, you have to check this full length comic book out:

http://www.chick.com/reading/comics/0114/0114_fourpages.asp?pg=01

This is hands down one of the most unintentionally funny things I have ever read.

I am more perplexed than amused by the level of this guy's inability to loosen up and accept the Real World (think of my reaction to an insane person babbling on and on about something completely nonsensical), although some of these comics are pretty damn hilarious. I like the video games ones the best. Ouch, we are satanic by playing video games!!11 Tongue

He also claims Harry Potter is driving kids toward Satanism.

Soutly must hang out with some, um, interesting people if he thinks most people believe such stuff.

No, I am not.  I find it sickening that he dresses up his rampant hatred in a Christian form to make a quick buck.

GOD ING DAMNIT!!!

For the last time, I did not say that a vast majority of people but into the most extreme of Chick's claims, I said that a number of people do believe some variation (mostly a lesser one) of his claims.

For instance, the History Channel ran a special a few years back called "Hitler's Pope".  Most people, even on this forum, believe(d) that Catholics worship Mary.  Lot's of Protestants think that the Catholic Church is not a Christian Church.  Don't deny these things to be true, because I know them to be so.

You do realize that Christianity only spread to what it is today because an idiot Roman Emperor(Nero I believe) martyred them, aren't you? Their refusal to give up their faith even upon pain of gruesome death only managed to inspire people into converting. Your plan would have the same result.

South Korea is now 25% Christian today for largely the same reason. During the Japanese occupation most people there developed much admiration for the very small Christian population because of their refusal to worship the Emperor regardless of the consequences imposed on them, so it became the religion of opposition to the Japanese occupation. Later Christianity grew exponentially especially in the 70s because of Christian groups opposition to the secular military regime and of course the North's attempt to stamp out all religion. Now there are more Christians than Buddhists there and they're a majority in Seoul.

No, the problem was that the Romans stopped feeding the little monsters to the lions.

No, the problem was that the Romans stopped feeding the little monsters to the lions.

Which would have eventually caused enough converts for an uprising.

You've said that you're Catholic. You obviously haven't read too many of his tracts.

Some of them are decent. I think the one about evolution one posted by Gabu is right on the money. I disagree with Baptists on a lot of things but like most Christian sects they DO make some correct points from time to time. "The sun shines on a dogs ass every once in a while."

One day a few years ago I came out of mass to see "Are Roman Catholics Christians" left on every single car...I laughed at it so much that I had to read the rest of Mr. Chick's crap.

That comes from Chick now being 80 years old.  I really wouldn't expect him to have the slightest clue about kids in the real world.

Wrong - it's extremely stupid to cause an uprising in the first place. If they had simply ignored the Christians rather than trying to use them as a scapegoat then Christianity would likely have not become anything more than a minor cult.

These are my new favorites:

I love the way that scientists are "only guessing", and yet these Old Testament fairy tales are completely true, apparently.  And also, if the guy's cynical friends are that easily swayed by such poor reasoning and faulty general knowledge, then they deserve to become Creationists.

Dear Crazy Woman:

When talking to a man about Noah's Ark, it is not appropriate to engage in auto-eroticism asphyxiation.

Thank you.

Dear Crazy Woman:

It is not appropriate to engage in auto-eroticism asphyxiation when you realize that your professors are lying scum.

Dear Crazy Woman:

It is not appropriate to wiggle your ass in the face of theman who just converted you.  it could be considered tempting him to sin.

And yet, they were not a scapegoat - look at what a horror christianity has turned out to be!  The Romans knew what sort of monstrous thing they were dealing with.  They tried their best, and should be honored for it.  Which is why I would like to emulate their colourful methods of dealing with this insidious threat.
