I'm visiting family in Pensacola Beach where its a chilly 44 F/7 C with a steady 10-12 mph/15-20 kph wind out of the east making it feel cooler with a light sting of sand on the beach.

Of course, cool is relative to what the natives here expect. Back home in IL this would be delightful as it's currently 20 F/-7 C with snow and ice on the way.

It reached -5 deg F in Detroit's mid-northern suburbs Friday and Saturday morning; schools were closed Friday.

It's finally warm here now!  65 and cloudy, but bright right now.  Just as warm tomorrow, but then we will get a cool down.

It reached the mid-forties today, and will reach the mid-fifties tomorrow, and the low sixties Friday before winter makes its return starting this weekend.

I'm enjoying our January Thaw as long as it lasts.  Smiley

It has gone from about 0 F to 54 F in less than a week here. I was warmly dressed but it was still unbearable out last week. Today I didn't even wear a coat. It felt like Spring here today.

That front is just passing through Chicagoland this evening. It was near 60 F this afternoon, but it is expected to be 16 F by morning.

I'll never understand why you Americans use that unwieldy Fahrenheit system. It's one of the three evil things invented by a German.

Looks like it's time to move out of your beloved Midwest.

It was a balmy 57 degrees here today. Gonna be 64 tomorrow. Wonderful!

Obviously I grew up with it, so I'm totally biased ... but it's just more descriptive and better-made for the daily temperatures that humans encounter.  Celsius pretty much only goes from -17 to 37 while Fahrenheit goes from 0 to 100.  The difference between 70 and 80 is very significant and worthy of more than 5 degrees on a scale. Now down to 26 with an on-and-off freezing drizzle (because the upper atmosphere is still warm, so it doesn't fall as snow).  Almost everything is closed (I'm about to try to get food, so wish me luck), and this is the weirdest technically 62-degree (that was the high before the front came through just after 3 AM) day I can remember.

After going to the airport early this morning with temps in the teens, I got off at John Wayne Airport this afternoon and it's in the 60s here in the OC.

it was 65F this afternoon with pouring rain!  The warmest January temperature I've ever experienced.  The humidity was nice... made my sinuses feel better. I believe it reached 52F once in January back home... of course there it must be bright and sunny for that to occur.  One time in 9th grade I believe we had a very warm winter and we got rain in January with a clap of thunder... but it was like 39F.

In contrast my home town was -29F last night.  It is currently -9F with a low of -31F expected tonight.
