to be clear, I 'm not bothering with anything other than the 4 Senate races. I will do updates as results come in, with fancy county results.

First results-

Polls have closed in America, and we are about to see the first results. We will see how Pres. Gary Peters will be affecting the races tonight, with a solid 55% approval. We start off our coverage with 2 key senate races in Vermont and Pennsylvania.

Vermont 11% in

MacKenzie- 37%
Welch- 61%

Wow, MacKenzie putting up some solid numbers considering this vote reporting is in from outer parts of Chittenden.

PA 6% in

We can now, surprisingly early,  project that Democrats have picked up the seat, going against the libertarian incumbent.

MORE TO COME!

Well, we are now in the west, and have some first results from the Texas and New Mexico senate races!

Texas  7% reporting

Ellis-70%

Thornberry-28%

Good turnout in the cities for Ellis but will it be enough?

New Mexico 19% reporting

Smith- 39%

Teague- 59%

impressive standing for Smith, considering what is coming in.

Here's a few things for my character:

Emily Charlotte Peebleton (born June 20, 1976) is an American politician who's served as the junior Senator from North Carolina since 2018. Prior to her election to the Senate in a 2017 special election, Peebleton served as the Mayor of Charlotte from 2009 to 2014, when she resigned to become Secretary of Health and Human Services under President Barack Obama (AN: Is he still President ITTL?).

The 2009 election for Mayor of Charlotte was one full of twists and turns. Incumbent Mayor Pat McCrory opted to retire, rather than seek an eighth term. Prospective frontrunner for the Democratic nomination, councilman Anthony Foxx, surprised pundits by announcing that he would run for re-election instead of mayor. With her party lacking a strong candidate, Peebleton, then a businesswoman, decided to run, winning the Democratic nomination handily. Councilman John Lassiter ran on the Republican line, also winning heavily.

Lassiter maintained a slim margin in the polls from when polls between Peebleton and Lassiter were first conducted in June 2009 to September the same year, in which it was revealed that Peebleton underwent gender reassignment surgery in 1996. Lassiter's margin increased further for one month, before a sex tape with Democratic then-Mayor Pro Tem Patsy Kinsey was released (AN: Apologies to Bagel for ripping off the fake sex tape plot point).

The final poll, taken on November 2 (Election Eve), had Peebleton and Lassiter in a dead heat. Peebleton would win with 53,589 to Lassiter's 53,332, a margin of 0.24%, the first Democrat to win an election for Mayor of Charlotte since Harvey Gantt in 1985. In sharp contrast to the 2009 election, Peebleton won the 2011 election 63%-37%, and the 2013 election 55%-45%.

The 2017 United States Senate special election in North Carolina was held on November 7, 2017. The Senate election was required, as incumbent Republican U.S. Senator Thom Tillis resigned effective upon the election of a successor, citing health concerns. State Senator Dan Bishop ran for the open seat, but was defeated by Democrat Emily Peebleton. The November general election was the first time in North Carolina history, and only the second time in U.S. history, that a major-party candidate for a U.S. Senate seat was openly transgender. The election received national attention when Bishop launched in a tirade against Peebleton and "his [sic] radical transgender agenda", a remark which proved incredibly beneficial for the Peebleton campaign (AN: the Bob Marshall effect, if you will).

Name: Xavier Johnson (R-NJ Class3)
Ideology: Conservative Leaning Centrist
Previous offices held: Bound Brook Mayor (2004-2008)
State Senator NJ 23rd legislative district (2009-2017)

Bio:

Before ever being involved in politics, Xavier Johnson worked as a professional lawyer in his field of law. However, he decided to go for it and run for Mayor in his small hometown of Bound Brook where he would easily win as a Republican in 2004 and go on to serve one term after deciding to go on and run for the New Jersey State Senate in the 23rd legislative district. He would face hard primary challenges but he would prevail nonetheless and soon win the general election and serve one and a half term as he decided to leave his seat to prepare for a senate run. During his short but impactful time in the state senate he became fairly well known in New Jersey with his constant advocacy for lowering property taxes and other various policies such as improving business and reducing the deficit in New Jersey while even being vocal when he was against Gov. Christie's policies as Governor if he found them to be worse off. He was known for reaching around the aisle when possible as well. By the time 2018 arrived Senator Bob Menendez had been indicted on serious charges against him and was formally charged thus crippling Democratic hopes in the blue state of New Jersey when the elections arrived. By the time Menendez had been found guilty, recently elected Governor Phil Murphy appointed the President of the Senate, Stephen M. Sweeney to fill in for Senator Menendez in the U.S. Senate. Sweeney was found to be neutral in terms of popularity as most of New Jersey was unaware of him and was certainly lacking compared to Menendez. The normal election was now going to be a special election and was planned to take place a month earlier than the 2018 senate elections for other states making this election to take the national spotlight. Once Johnson announced his run the race was going to tighten in terms of polling to the point of the race being labeled as a tossup due to the Menendez case looming over and the overall awareness and effective campaigning of Johnson in the garden state as well as the fact that he was more sympathetic to left leaning voters who seemed disenfranchised and was not afraid to break with the Republican party on a few issues here and there making himself more likable to New Jersey voters. By the time the elections happened many counties in New Jersey were close with Johnson winning the majority of them.

New Jersey Special Senate Election Results Oct. 2018

Xavier Johnson(R) - 51.7%
Stephen M. Sweeney(D) - 48.3%
