Trump says post office is "dumber and poorer" for not illegally charging Amazon more to ship their packages than other companies. Aka more tiny penis waving at Bezos and the WaPo.

Bezos is possibly one of the few individuals worse than Trump.

Amazon uses USPS, and not private sector competitors, because they receive a better price for a similar service. Lest anyone think Trump is actually a capitalist and not just a zero-sum mercantilist.

I wonder if he notices that it's cheaper to send a 1 ounce package from China to the US than the US to the US. In the case of the former, the USPS does its part free of charge.

I don't doubt it, Trump is very petty.

Ironically, I believe that USPS package delivery (for which Amazon must be one of the largest customers) is actually profitable and helps to subsidize things like rural mail delivery.

This is why populists are inherently not conservatives.

I mean, everybody gets better rates via USPS than via FedEx or UPS for almost everything. Years ago I handled tech procurement for a Fortune 500 company and you'd think the rates we got via FedEx, UPS and DHL would be phenomenal...nope. It was arguably more expensive for us than for an Average Joe just shipping one package at a time through them (especially FedEx) - and in most cases, not inherently any faster. We'd often spend $20 to ship something via FedEx or $10 via UPS that could have been shipped via USPS for $6-7.

Really the only reason to go with non-USPS is if you absolutely want to guarantee overnight delivery (AFAIK, USPS still doesn't guarantee overnight even with its overnight-like shipping option) or you're in a really rural area where Priority Mail can take more than 3 days and you need it quickly. However, my experience has been that when comparing the three similar options for intermediate delivery (USPS Priority Mail, UPS Ground and Fedex Express Saver), USPS delivers as quickly and consistently as Fedex (2 days, sometimes 3) and for about half the price; UPS Ground is slightly more expensive than USPS but it can take anywhere from 2-6 days for something to arrive.

This. Also, in regards to this thread, it’s fun to see lefties defend the free market. Maybe Trump should come out in favor of single payer.

Maybe Trump should nominate Anita Hill to the next SCOTUS vacancy to make liberals’ heads spin.

Um, you are aware that Trump supported single payer a few years ago.
Aren't you?

You do know it’s illegal for the government to describing tenor favor one entity over another, right? Also, Trump never cared about the free market or conservative principles, whatever can make him richer is all he cares about.

Amazon ships my sh**t through whatever means they want, but rarely is it with the USPS...is this for slower shipping options or something?

Amazon is nowhere near a monopoly.  You can order anything you want from anybody you want on the internet.  Amazon can't stop you.

Reminder that if Obama did this, Republicans would be insisting we live in the Soviet Union now.

I'm sure if Bezos' (not exactly the same as Amazon) newspaper reporting was of the same odor as Fox News, blue avatars would be just fine with it.

Of course he would say that. He's looking for ways to increase federal revenue to cover his food budget. That heifer eats more food than the entire population of India.

The Washington Post is a 3rd way CIA propaganda rag. They were running 16 hit pieces a day against Bernie.

Unless it’s same day/two day it’s almost always shipped with USPS and handed off for local delivery.
