If Bernie Sanders chooses not to run (which I think he will run), who is on your wish list to run?

The usual names that come up are

Elizabeth Warren: She will keep the door open, especially if Bernie does not run. I could see her run even if he does, but she would likely not catch fire then.

Sherrod Brown: Even though he supported Hillary in '16, he seems to have respect within the Bernie community. He is liberal, from a swing state and important region, and he is someone that both wings seem to like. I do not think he will run, however.

Tulsi Gabbard: She will likely not run until she runs for higher office or is in a Democratic cabinet position. She is still young, and she currently has a controversial reputation within the party.

Nina Turner- She will likely be a campaign director or something similar for his likely '20 run. She only has a state-level office on her resume, and she shows little interest in running for office anytime soon.

Who am I forgetting?

He's obviously going to run if he doesn't die

Assuming he doesn't run , then Warren can fill in. Maybe Gillibrand

The rest can get funked

Merkley, Warren, and Gillibrand, in that order.

I think Gabbard has the best chance to get most of Bernie's supporters. I see a lot of love for her in the Bernie circles and really she'll probably be the only one running who actually endorsed him.

Because nothing says progressive like an anti-gay, Obama bashing, pro-AIPAC, Assad apologist.

Warren, Merkley, Wyden would all be good. Gabbard would be catastrophic and pretty much guarantee Trump’s re-election (which is probably what she’d prefer anyway). She reminds me of Kate Hoey and Piers Corbyn in the UK.

Bernie Sanders is an old white male. I thought liberals hated that.

Sanders is too old to run, you guys need to come to your senses.

If you like sanders, your best bet is Elizabeth Warren.

I assume there's a big difference between the 13+ million plus who voted for Bernie, and the small hardcore base on reddit that loves Tulsi Gabbard.

She's not only a dream for any democratic oppo researcher, but she needs something better than being a House member and ex-DNC vice chair

Yeah, it's almost like the caricatures that the right wants to set up for us have no basis in reality outside of a very small, vocal, fringe minority of people...

Tier 1: Enthusiastically support
Elizabeth Warren
Jeff Merkley
Sherrod Brown

Tier 2: Generally support; quite good but not ideal
Kirsten Gillibrand
Martin O'Malley (favorite son)
John Bel Edwards

Tier 3: Milquetoast support; "meh" candidates that I would still vote for
Nina Turner
Kamala Harris
Cory Booker
Joe Biden
Amy Klobuchar
Tulsi Gabbard

Tier 4: Pretty bad candidates that I would only vote for in a swing state
John Hickenlooper
Deval Patrick
Terry McAuliffe

Tier 5: Would strongly consider voting for the Republican as a "f!ck you" to the Democratic Party
Mark Zuckerberg
Tom Steyer
Mark Cuban

Something else to note here: I don't think Gillibrand has an effective primary coalition. Someone like Warren or Sanders himself would have a much easier time defeating Gillibrand instead of Booker/Harris. If the "moderate" candidate is Gillibrand, I would be very happy.

Also, lol @ Gabbard getting the Sanders bloc. You've had too much Reddit.

Elizabeth Warren
Kirsten Gillibrand
Jeff Merkley
Sherrod Brown
Nina Turner

I'd support Gabbard with reservations about her background.

I'm not a bernie supporter BUT I think the best shot for the bernie bros, other than bernie himself, would be Brown and Warren.
