Interestingly this was Change Research's first big miss since their formation. It looks like they also made the mistake of weighting by 2016 Presidential vote (in my career I have only ever seen this method of weighting work in regularly scheduled elections, more often in Presidential years though it didn't throw off our 2014 midterm polls significantly).
