Alright, here is my scenario:

In 2000, George W. Bush declines to run for President, opting for another term as Governor. The Republican party nominates a Forbes/Hatch ticket, which fails to the Gore/Lieberman ticket in another Democratic landslide.

2004 roles around, and this time, a Bush decides it's time to run for President, only this time, It's Florida's Governor. Jeb wins a hard fought primary against Senator John McCain, and is nominated for President, choosing Governor Mitt Romney as his Vice President.

On the Democratic side, Al Gore is primaried by sitting Vice President Joe Lieberman, due to the weak response to 9/11 and in-fighting between the two. Lieberman does about as well as McCain 2000 OTL. Gore nominates Senator Dianne Feinstein as his Vice President.

What is the result of this election? Discuss and include maps.

this is assuming Gore's approval is around 50 due to 9/11 effect. Closest state for each side is Tennessee for Jeb and Ohio for Gore. Whatever poor bastard the dems put up in 2008 is curbstomped.

After 12 years of a Democratic White House, Gore's poor response to 9/11 and him being primaried, Jeb wins.

Jeb takes Arkansas, Missouri, Iowa and Ohio and wins the election.

But Jeb probably ends up being a one-term president.

Gore loses. While there's still some kind of rally around the flag effect after 9/11 and while I think Gore would respond to the attacks better than Dubya did, Gore faces more scrutiny for it than Bush did OTL, as Bush had the I was only here for 8 months excuse while Gore was VP for the 8 years prior. There's also no Iraq war either. Liebermann running against Gore hurts him to (I personally find it unlikely that a sitting VP challenges his boss, but if he's going to, he should at least have the good sense to resign first).  Jeb wins with a map similar to this:

Governor Jeb Bush / Governor Mitt Romney (Republican): 328 EV, 52% PV
President Al Gore / Senator Diane Feinstein (Democratic): 210 EV, 47% PV

Jeb Probably passes a Tax Cut Similar to his brother's in 2005, starts a war in Iraq, expands any military action in Afghanistan and loses one or both houses of Congress in 2006. The financial crisis happens right on schedule. Bush vs. Clinton 2.0 happens in 2008 and as was the case in 1992, the Clinton beats the Bush:

Senator Hillary Clinton / Governor Bill Richardson (Democratic): 331 EV, 53% PV
President Jeb Bush / Vice President Mitt Romney (Republican): 207 EV, 46% PV

After 12 years of Democrat control of the white house, losing a fourth election in a row is no trivial task. But Jeb Bush is the best Republican candidate to do it.

282-256 DEM. Al Gore is the new Harry Truman: the incumbent who is written off by all pundits before he wins.

Also you are nuts if you think that Lieberman is going to reach McCain '00 (nearly 1/3rd of PV) levels trying to pull a Kennedy '80 because of muh 9/11. He would struggle to be competitive in any state.

The Democrats are doomed in 2008. Doomed. But at least they'll be rid of traitor Joe Lieberman.

I don’t think I’d agree on the Iraq war part. I kind of expect Jeb to be a little smarter than Georgie when determining the path of action, and with no Cheney influence, it would help him. Otherwise, I’d agree with this.
