prediction - Manchin wins if he faces a cuck like Jenkins, Manchin loses if he faces a chad like Blankenship.

I'm not willing to make a prediction either way, but Blankenship is by far the strongest candidate the Republicans have and they'd be making a huge mistake in not nominating him.

This has GOT to be sarcasm, unless you have no idea who Don Blankenship is

The thing is, even if he hadn't dated and molested teenage girls which is what captured people's attention, Moore is nevertheless an unrepentant grifter in the mold of Donald Trump. Look at his private charitable foundation / slush fund. It's sad but he's truly a bad and dishonest guy.

True, but that scandal was much easier to write-off as a lesser of two evils situation.  The pedophilia, child molestation (IIRC some of his actions qualify under AL law), and sexual assault against multiple minors have made this election a real “where will you stand when the flood comes” moment for Republicans in general and AL Republicans in particular.  Republicans so desperate to hold this Senate seat that they’d support Roy Moore (and for that matter, those who backed Trump simply b/c of the Supreme Court) would do well to remember Mark 8:36.

The RNC has recommitted to Roy Moore most likely at Trump's direction, Ronna Romney McDaniel could have told him no but she most likely just rolled over on this on. Sick and more telling about her than about Moore or Trump. Mitt needs to get his niece in line, especially after he said this was a matter of honor and integrity the other day. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bEVOmFBM_xk

I wonder if Mitt's statement against Moore caused Trump to take this to Ronna as punishment.

It's not necessary for that to happen for the RNC to jump back in, and I don't know if Trump is capable of stringing those two thoughts together.

Roy Moore in the US Senate would be a stain on the GOP and on the nation. Leigh Corfman and other victims are courageous heroes. No vote, no majority is worth losing our honor, our integrity.

Here's a sample ballot from Baldwin County.

What happens if a voter fills in the circle beside 'Republican' AND the circle beside 'Doug Jones'?  I can't find the answer.

snip

I believe Siren actually asked that question a while ago and found out that you can select straight ticket, but if you also fill in the option for a specific Senate candidate, it will count for that candidate.

It's stupid that they have a straight ticket option when there's only one race on the ballot though. Waste of ink.

Looks like all that talk of "Moore momentum" in this race was basically just hot air, see also VA-GOV.

Wasn't hot-air in GA-06. You predicted Ossoff then, I believe.

To be fair, Alabama is a pretty cheap state.

Not really. In Virginia, there were plenty of polls showing Northam's lead expanding while the media and Atlas were jizzin up a storm about Gillespie surging. People didn't pay attention. The polls are actually trending in Moore's direction now after that two-week period.

Sure, if you dismiss the Washington Post and Gravis polls as outliers and ignore the fact that even most polls which have shown Moore ahead still either have the race within the margin of error or barely outside of it. Even if those polls are accurate, a single-digit Moore lead is hardly insurmountable.

Northam's lead shrunk going into the final week, and then he made a few missteps, and then the final weekend he recovered some. Most polling was off though, except gold standard Quinipiac.

Different situation

-Moore has led in most recent polls and in most cases by somewhere between 3-6 points
whereas in Virginia Northam remained either in the lead or was tied in most late polls.

-Alabama is normally Safe R in Senate races while Virginia is typically lean D in most statewide races

-Unlike in Virginia where  Northam was the favorite for much of the fall outside of a short time Moore was leading in most polls and looked like the front runner.
