58 out of 435 when about half the country wants him impeached? Yep sounds like a democracy to me Roll Eyes

We are a Republic not a direct democracy .

Also lol coming from someone in a country where 2 minority parties teamed up with the separatist party to try to take down the Harper Government (2 months after he was elected).

Well I think this might hurt Tim waltz.
If the voters in Minnesota 1 had known that he would impeach a president since he doesn’t like him he would have lost last election.

Lol. Support for impeachment is at like 49% nationally. Then there's people like me who oppose it for other reasons (Pence being worse, and it being politically foolish to do so).
I suspect a significant portion of those Americans may just want Trump to not be President anymore but may disagree with impeachment if it seemed like a real possibility with real charges. We saw the same thing with support of Bill Clinton being impeached increasing when it became clear he wasn’t going to be impeached.

Also talk of a vote to Censure Trump, which is basically the equivalent of a Warning. Not sure if Censure can be a privileged resolution like Impeachment can though: https://nadler.house.gov/press-release/next-week-richmond-nadler-introduce-censure-resolution-led-cbc-and-house-judiciary

Full list of Democrat who voted to move forward:

Disappointed in Lieu and Polis.
Especially because of Lieu’s big mouth. It’s ironic.

No impeachment yet. I want him to continue to destroy the republican party. Plus he's doing a good job rooting out the racists in America.

Pushing an impeachment resolution before the conclusion of Mueller's investigation makes it look blatantly political and hurts the case of any similar resolution in the future.

That would only be at all true if there were no reasons for impeachment other than those Mueller is investigating. Trump has violated the Constitution and violated his oath of office and is grossly unfit to serve. There is no requirement that Congress wait on any other process - they impeach the President at their pleasure. That the GOP members have failed their own oaths is on them (and grounds for their removal by all available legal means), it does not change the fact that the Republicans and their so-called President are a threat to national security.

It's unfortunate that the process of impeachment has been such a partisan tool throughout our country's history. It was one in the days of Andrew Johnson, during Bill Clinton's presidency, and it is one now. My belief is that any impeachment proceedings against Trump would be justified only if there is clear proof (as provided by the investigation), that he broke his oath of office and violated the Constitution. Obstruction of justice would fall within this category. However, until that proof arises, there isn't any valid basis to remove Trump besides the condemnation for the statements he has made, and the policy measures that he has pursued. Impeachment needs to be for clear crimes that threaten the security of this country, not for petty political disagreements.

Tim Walz is the only Trump district Democrat to vote for impeachment.

Yeah. Walz is my "home" district, where I grew up (one of my college friends actually had him as a teacher when she was in high school). I wish he hadn't. He has huge respect within the veteran community, as he served in the military for quite a while. However, he barely scraped by on election day, and that area has a lot of die-hard Trump fans. The county I grew up in went for Trump by nearly 70%. Of course, Walz also covers more urban areas (Mankato, mostly), but this will lose him support among the rural voters who might have otherwise supported him for governorship.

I want Trump impeached, too, but it's not the right time yet.

But, Walz is good people, so hopefully this doesn't hurt him as much as I think it will.

Al Green forced a second vote today. It failed overwhelmingly again, though a little less overwhelmingly than last time.

Al Green's third attempt is upcoming, and will be before the August Recess! https://www.politico.com/story/2019/07/15/al-green-impeachment-vote-trump-1415959

As a reminder, Impeachment is a privileged resolution under House Rules, which means it is in order at any time. No permission from the Speaker or the Rules Committee is required. The democratic leadership is expected to dispose of the matter through a motion to table, just as the republican leadership did in 2017 and 2018.

Al Green's 2017 Resolution was Tabled, 364-58, with 4 voting present
Al Green's 2018 Resolution was Tabled, 355-66, with 3 voting present

I would hope that this time around, at least 130 members oppose the motion to table.

This is the third time he's trying this. Last time he got 66 votes. I'm guessing ~90 this time.

I wish he would stop wasting our time with this ploy. The votes probably don't exist in the House, and they definitely don't exist in the Senate.

He must be getting Tired Of Being Alone.  If he could just convince the Democratic caucus: Let’s Stay Together, and following successful impeachment proceedings I can assure you there will be plenty of Love And Happiness to go around.

66 in 2018
95 in 2019

At this rate, we'll be able to successfully impeach Trump in 2026.
