He's losing again, pulling a William Jennings Bryan. Probably Stevenson would have been one of the weakest candidates of the 1960 bench. JFK was the only one who could beat Nixon that year. Maybe Johnson or Humphrey, but surely nobody else.

✓ Vice President Richard Nixon (R-CA)/Former Ambassador Henry Cabot Lodge (R-ME): 360 EVs.; 53.4%
Former Governor Adlai Eving Stevenson (D-IL)/Senator Stuart Symington (D-MO): 177 EVs.; 45.5%

Vice President Richard Nixon (R-CA) / UN Ambassador Henry Lodge (R-MA) ✓
Fmr. Governor Adlai Stevenson (D-IL) / Senator Lyndon Johnson (D-TX)

The Stop Kennedy movement succeeds. Northern Democrats stay home despite Johnson's wheeling and dealing improving Stevenson's performance from 1956.

I really can't see a scenario where Stevenson wins the primaries on his own. He was just a generic New Dealer sacrificial lamb in the 1950s.
