Jackson County, Oregon

That's just over 300 miles by car. I've been to every county in CA and NV.

I don't think I've been to McCormick county SC, which is only around 30 miles away.

McCormick is a bit out of the way. I drove through it last year going from Augusta to the Ninety Six National Historical Park. I'm guessing that's not a direction you've had to travel.

Tough call, since there have probably been many counties that I've traveled through or stopped in.  My answer would likely be St. Clair, Missaukee, or Ottawa (all in Michigan).

Your profile says Saginaw county, so if I use Saginaw city as a starting point St Clair is about 80 mi, Missaukee is about 100 mi, and Ottawa is about 120 mi.

Are the deals that good? Is it worth a side trip if I'm driving on I-55?

Well, I'm really not much of an expert, so I guess you'll have to judge for yourself

Every now and then, I'll see a late night commercial on New Orleans TV for them.  They've got everything, can even get yourself one of them bidets.

Thanks. I'll keep it in mind. I'll be in New Orleans during the week of July 4 and plan on driving back home by way of I-55.

Don't know how much time you have to work with, but taking I-10 to Baton Rouge and then Hwy 61 up to St. Francisville and Natchez and the Natchez Parkway back to I-55 just outside of Jackson is an infinitely more interesting route

I agree. I'm staying at a B&B in Helena AR (Thu Jun 28) and then driving down the Mississippi along Hwy 61 to get to New Orleans (Fri Jun 29) with stops likely in Vicksburg, Natchez, and St Francisville. On the way back (Fri Jul 6) we only had plans to stop in Jackson at the Natural Science museum before reaching Memphis for dinner and evening entertainment. Be on the lookout for a red BMW with MUON2 license plates. Smiley

Sounds like you've got it figured out.  Been to Helena a time or two but never stayed there.  I'll usually stay in Clarksdale at a place called the Shack-Up Inn (they took a bunch of sharecropper shotguns and fixed them up) and has the Hopson Plantation Commissary right next to it.  Clarksdale is a good town to see too, but you're not going to be able to do it all.  Try to catch a little music, eat a little Bar-B-Que and the inexplicable Delta delicacy, the Tamale, and you'll have had a good run.  Over the decades, I've had way too much fun in the Delta (and even got married there--in Woodville)

I did stop at Luter's and they do have quite a selection. I may have even found a replacement for a deteriorating corner sink.

On the way back from NOLA I stayed overnight in Memphis and drove through a bit of NE AR (Crowley's Ridge SP) and SE MO (Current River) before heading home.

I've been to all the IL counties, so if I look at the nearest in adjacent states (and driving distances) I get

Barry MI (210 mi)
Jay, IN (256 mi)
Butler IA (285 mi)
Florence WI (341 mi)
Breckinridge, KY (387 mi)
Bollinger MO (390 mi) Oregon MO (474 mi)

Either Kauai County or Aleutians West, depending on whether the latter counts as a county or not.

In Australia....might be Roxburgh County. Though counties in Australia means something very different to what it does in America, and a lot of them have very little population. As far as councils go (which have the same functions as counties in the US), it's Camden I think, which is in the same metro as my home city but is isolated enough that are no real major road routes in the council and has nothing of interest to the average person really.
