Le Pen is a great man... former paratrooper, leading voice for the survival and prosperity of the French people. And a friend of freedom, too... as opposed to the anti-freedom socialists abound in Europe.

Robertson is kooky but also pretty old (as is Le Pen) which deserves some slack. Moore is just an idiot, whereas Kim Jong-Il is clinically insane... he thinks dwarves are a threat to the world's survival. He's long gone.

Le Pen can leave his anti-semitism at the door and still continue to support the ideas that will help France. He remains a disgusting human being regardless though.

Kim Jong Il is the most insane but I didn't vote for him b/c I wanted to make a statement that Pat Robertson is a dangerous man who unfortunately still has a large following in this religion-obsessed country. Its people like him the French hate, not Moore.

Le Pen isn't all bad, since I oppose Muslim immigration to Europe.

Michael Moore is just a convenient target b/c of his weight. He's one of the few popular liberal personalities in America.

Out of these, only the religious is insane.

Also it is absurd to even include Moore with this lot.

Le Pen is not anti-Jewish, though he certainly is not pro-"Semetic" as 'Semetic' refers to Arabs as well.

Most of the charges against Le Pen of one thing or another are distortions, with the remainder being lies. Anyone that presents fact-checked quotes in both French and the translation can demonstrate otherwise, but then, if you tried that it would be clear Le Pen said little if any of what the left claims.

Supporting the survival of your country is risky. It cost Fortuyn his life. Le Pen was already willing to give his life for France-- he was in the battalion that seized the Suez when Egpyt started getting uppity in the 1950s, and I believe served in Algeria. He's old enough that the anti-Westerners are fine with merely slandering him at every turn.

I never said I liked the guy, I don't. Not all of his beliefs are terrible. But I certainly despise him for his anti-semitism.

The poll is simple.  You have two mildly loony people; one on the political right and one on the political left.  Below them you have two people who are generally considered to be more loony.  Again one on the left and one on the right.

A slight problem with the poll is that Le Pen is not as far out there as Kim is.  Better would of been Islam Karimov of Uzbekistan.

Don't confuse sanity with intelligence.

Got it Dr. Freud.  Actually, I'm wondering why Vorlon would be slumming like this.  This is the sort of Straw Poll I'd expect from several posters, but's this is surprising.  Bad day at the office, I'd guess.

My point is that that Robertson is a moron.  Moore is not particularly bright.  Le Pen is racist a**hole, who's not bright either.  Kim is nuts.

clear.  again, I had a point last night but forgot what it was.  my apologies for the sarcasm.  Mostly I was venting at the use of a clinical psychology term by a poster, usually a serious one, who has thus far claimed no particular psychoanalytical traning.  I'm a big fan of division of labor, as I've stated before in my many rants against Frist and Dean, both of whom are well qualified for other jobs, but not for the jobs their respective parties have given them (as they're both finding out!)  I suppose asking, in a straw poll, whether someone is insane, is the sort of thing I find gravely offensive.  Still, I should have made that more clear instead of raining sarcasm on other posters.

I stand by this:  Not a goddamned one of you is qualified to say whether Kim or any of the others is insane, and this is a dangerous game You are all playing.

I had to undergo psychological treatment 10 years ago.  Does that count?  Smiley  I even got to sit on this cool swivel chair which was also a recliner while having to talk about my family and work.  hehehe . . . I miss the little blue pills.  Wink

Got you loud and clear.
This time. Not before.
Then again, there are politicians who betray some pretty obvious sociopathic traits...just look at Ronald Schill...

well, I'm a big fan of recreational drug use.  Does that make me a pharmacist?

anyway, that's fine, call me an asshole, but I think many of the problems have in our society stem from a lack of adequate respect for the education system, perhaps brought on by the failure of our educational system (although we can debate this latter point.)

But back on topic, I agree with Dazzleman that Kim is probably the most dangerous to the stability of his region.  And I'd encourage the President to try to alleviate the danger, rather than calling his country "axis of evil"  Who the hell knows how that might get rendered in Korean by his translators, given that good/evil are zoroastrian/western constructs unfamiliar to early childhood associations of Koreans, but any way you translate that, it's gotta come off nasty.

1) Kim
2) Le Pen / Robertson (sort of a tie)
3) Moore

I think for the most part, everyone here are armchair quarterbacks when it comes to what we discuss, and that is understood by the readers.  In my case, except for Engineering and College finances, my knowledge on most topics are either from life experiences or readings/beliefs.  The same would go with everyone else.  While I was diagnosed as being clinically depressed and was under suicide watch for a while, does that qualify me to diagnose others?  No, but I do understand what people in similar situations like mine must be going through.  However, in the case of this poll, it was done more in jest, and should be treated as such.  Smiley  So, why don't get go get a brew (or in my case, a coke) and kick back and watch the satirical remarks?  Smiley  Nothing to get worked up over.

And the winner is....Kim Jong Il by a pompadour.

(Pat Robertson gets the booby prize for saying the most stupid sh*t recently, though.)

AuH2O, the "service" in Algeria was as a torturer if memory serves me. While Angus has a point, I'm still gonna play. Wink

I use this logic. All of the above except Kim manage to exist and even have considerable success in free Western Democracies. This indicates a basic level of sanity. I doubt however that Kim Jong Il would be allright without the North Korean state behind him.

yeah, you're right.  and maybe I'm overreacting, all straw polls are merely ruses for introducing interesting topics of discussions.  This one is no different I suppose.  Clearly people agree that Kim is the most dangerous.  But you never know when one of the Bush Administration's minions is here.  I suspect that any campaign adviser worth his salt would eventually discover this forum.  Get the pulse of a nation, as it were.  Bush is pretty cocksure and a tad stubborn, which makes him an attractive candidate for CEO in my book (though not for Congress), but he has a propensity for following really bad advice all too often.  I hate to think some neocon with a hard-on for destruction is whispering "insanity" in his ear right now.  So when this sort of poll originates from a poster with a reputation for asking questions like, "Would you rather have sex with your grandmother or have sex with Bob Dole?" or like, "Which state is the best state to live in?" you know any observers know to take it with a grain.  But when the "insanity" question, originates from a respected serious pollster, I think it's bound to be taken more seriously.  Maybe too seriously.

But then I also think we're under observation by extraterrestrial beings of superior intellect.  So you should also take any opinion I offer with a grain of salt.
