Probably BS, but I hope Romney does try to primary Trump.

As the US Conference of Mayors opens its conference, NBC talks about the mayors who might run for president:

https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/elections/city-field-democratic-mayors-emerge-hot-prospects-2020-n839481

They do manage to get a response from Mitch Landrieu's office, but it's a non-answer:

I think that's right, I don't see why he'd run for President when he has no path in the primary unless it's an extremely weak field.

The Jerusalem Post claims that John Kerry, while in London, met with a “close associate” of Mahmoud Abbas, and urged the Palestinians to “stay strong in spirit and play for time”, since Trump won’t be president forever.  Also suggesting that he might run for president himself:

Booker says it’s his “intention” to run for reelection for his Senate seat in 2020, but he doesn’t sound fully committed to it:

Is there any chance Tammy Duckworth will run? I've read about her and she's definitely the Democrat I would prefer to beat Trump.

Oh thank goodness. Can we stop adding her to polls now?

I certainly hope so. She'd be an incredible force against Trump.

There's a "chance" that anyone will run, but I'm not aware of Duckworth having done anything to indicate interest so far.

Sounds like Sanders is trying to pull a Clinton and freeze out everyone else...which won't work because Warren/Harris/Booker/Cuomo at a minimum will get in.

At this point i think we should assume Kasich is running unless he tells us otherwise or Trump/Putin has him killed.

Email from Indiana Democratic Party:

Here’s a quiz for you: Who has a long-standing career in public service, used to ride the Amtrak to the Senate from his home in Delaware, never met an ice cream cone or a pair of aviator sunglasses he didn’t like, and is coming to Indiana to help out Joe’s re-election campaign?

If you guessed former Vice President Joe Biden, you’d be right.

And guess what, Nick? You and a guest could win tickets to meet former Vice President Biden AND Joe in Indianapolis.

To enter our contest, simply donate $20.18 to Joe’s campaign by January 30th, and we’ll pick one lucky winner to join us in Indianapolis. Every donation is entered for a shot to win this prize. That’s right, each donation counts as one entry!

Joe Biden is coming to Indianapolis! (I realize that having two Joe's is confusing, they're talking about Donnelly as the other.)

Also of note: I mentioned the other day that Oprah Winfrey seemed to rule out a 2020 run in her InStyle interview.  But as CNN notes, one complicating factor is that that interview was actually conducted weeks before the Oprah 2020 mania of her Golden Globes speech, at which point some of her associates were saying that it was a possiblity:
