A Winfrey vs. Trump election might well be the very beginning of the end of democracy in America.

Citizen's United was also one of those turning points, I'd say.

Exactly. No more reality tv stars in the White House, regardless of party.

And after say 15-20 more years of this insanity, at what point does the military start to go “maybe the civilians can’t be trusted to run things, after all...”

Following the shakeup created by Franken leaving and Jones winning, Kamala Harris and Cory Booker have been added to the Judiciary Committee.

Trump's nomination and election already did that.

Nah, the precedent has already been set. Even if he loses and things go back to "normalcy" after 2020, it's only a matter of time before another Trump (potentially an even worse one) comes later down the line.

I have a super-piping-hot take about what an Oprah vs. Trump election would say about American society and culture, but I'll spare the forum all the eyerolls it would deservedly bring.

brb, i'm flying back to my birth country that i haven't been in since i was a toddler and i'm going to run for office just by flashing my birth certificate around

Pretty sure all Swalwell needs to do to appeal to Iowans is use the Justin Trudeau strategy and wear pants that are a size too small.

Every cycle Michael Bloomberg's name comes up, and every cycle he never runs. When will we realize it isn't happening?

Sunday morning talk show watch:

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/U/US_NEWS_SHOWS?SITE=AP

None of the likely 2020 Dems will be on the Sunday news shows this weekend.  However, on the GOP side, Jeff Flake will be on This Week, while Rand Paul will be on Meet the Press.

I don't think Flake is going to run...but if Rand can consolidate liberty conservatives like Amash, I think he'll jump in (whether he scares off someone like Kasich is another story altogether).

I think after the interview, Maddow made some joke about how Harris gave an almost-perfect archetypical dodge to the "Are you running for President?" question. She's mastered it.

That’s because she’s running.

That’s because she’s running.

That was the implication of Maddow's comment, I would assume.
