Harris is definitely running, and may be the first to announce.

Looks like Inslee was in Nevada last week.  This story lists a bunch of campaigning and fundraising that all the prospective 2020 Dem. candidates are doing for candidates up in the midterms this year, noting that having Democratic officeholders owe you favors can pay off once primary season starts:

Pete Buttigieg is the keynote speaker at the South Dakota Democrats' "McGovern Day Dinner."

South Dakota, of course, shares a border with Iowa.

<Harris, Gillibrand, Sanders asked about 2020 on the Sharpton segment>

Was Warren asked about 2020?

No, she wasn't.  Sharpton mentioned her recent "present tense" denial, which I still think was basically a phony denial, but Sharpton seemed to take it at face value, so he just mentioned it and didn't bother pressing her for more.

Gabriel Debenedetti did a feature on Bernie's digital media operation that includes several tidbits about what a 2020 bid would probably look like.

Here’s the part of Holder’s interview on The Daily Show where he’s asked about 2020:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TlIdM3ioAYc&t=12m38s

At about the 13:30 mark he says “I’m thinking about this.”

As usual, the rule applies that if your prospective campaign would go absolutely nowhere, you have nothing to lose by openly talking about it.

Biden and Sanders openly talk about it too though.  In their cases, I think they figure that if they run, they're going to be frontrunners or co-frontrunners no matter what they say right now, so they might as well just be honest about their intentions.  Of course, part of that is that they're already known, so they already have a public image that's solid enough that it isn't going to be destroyed by any gaffe they make right now.

It's the candidates in the next tier, like Gillibrand and Harris, who try to be coy about it.  They're in the category where they *might* become frontrunners, but a Scott Walker-like implosion is also possible.  So they try to choose their words carefully, so as not to make an early mistake that leaves a bad impression.  Part of that is pretending that they're not thinking about running for president.

USA Today has a new interview with Booker:

https://www.usatoday.com/story/money/careers/career-advice/2018/04/24/sen-cory-booker-how-became-us-senator/542900002/

From that piece...I assume this pic has been around on the interwebs for a while, but here's Booker and Katy Perry at the Women's March:

Bernie doesn't like obfuscation. Here in March 2014, he clearly stated that he was thinking of running for President. None of the usual "I'm focused on being Senator" or "I am not currently planning on running" or any of that other garbage.

Well, in the interview with Sharpton over the weekend, he did openly say he was thinking about running again, but he still used the f-word ("focus") to explain how his priority was on 2018 for now.

Even for the candidates who openly say that they're thinking about running next year, I'm not sure how honest they're actually being.  Are they actually "thinking about it", or have they already decided to do it, but just can't say so out loud yet?  E.g., I imagine that O'Malley has already decided to run again, but can't say so because it would look bad, so he just says that he's thinking about it (in contrast to someone like Gillibrand, who won't even admit that she's thinking about it).  Whether Sander is also in that category, I don't know.

Kasich met with Bill Clinton's billionaire buddy (who's also donated to some Republicans, like Kevin McCarthy) Ron Burkle:

Have we ever had anyone go straight from being Mayor to being President before? I don't think so.

nope. I think buttigieg would also be the youngest and first openly gay president. (hypothetically)

This year’s CAP Ideas Conference will be held on May 15th, and there are already some confirmed speakers, once again including several prospective 2020ers:

https://capideas.org

E.g….

Cory Booker
Sherrod Brown
Bill de Blasio
Kirsten Gillibrand
Joe Kennedy
Seth Moulton
Chris Murphy
Bernie Sanders
Elizabeth Warren

Honestly, I think this might be the very first 2020 hint of any kind dropped by Sherrod Brown.

Inslee and Klobuchar are now on the list of speakers as well.  I guess Biden and Harris are the most prominent 2020 names not on the speaker's list at the moment.  Harris was there last year though, so maybe she'll be back and just hasn't confirmed yet.  Or maybe she has a scheduling conflict.

I still wonder how him being openly gay will play in the general, I think there's still much more homophobia in this country than many realize.

Remember when Bernie was notably absent last year, and CAP's stated rationale was that previous presidential candidates weren't invited? Did that "rule" only apply to 2017, or...

Both Biden and Sanders weren't invited last year, and the stated reason was that they said they wanted to hear from fresh blood.  Here's Neera Tanden on why they've changed their minds:

OK, but if former candidates are now allowed, does that mean that this guy should also expect an invitation?:

Here's this week's #2020Vision column:

https://www.cnn.com/2018/04/29/politics/2020-vision-democrats-jobs-guarantee/index.html

As usual, most of the items included there have already been discussed here, though they do note that Cuomo has hired Obama 2012's director of rapid response to work on his reelection campaign.

Also, they link to this video of Garcetti doing events in Iowa and South Carolina, including shots of him at a batting cage and playing Galaga in an arcade:
