anyone have thoughts on the race.

democrat front runner is AG tom reilly.  he is a pretty popular figure from what i understand.

republican front runner (assuming romney bows out) is lt. governor kerry healey.  she is a fairly liberal republican (a la jane swift).  she has been outspoken against governor romney's positions on abortion and the morning after pill.  however, it is understood that romeny will endorse healey for the job.

healey is oyung and very unpolished as a candidate.  i cant see her winning the race.

the republicans only hope would probably be a run from former governor paul celluci.  celluci likely would have been named to fill kerry's senate seat if he had been elected president.  in fat, i hear he was really lobbying for the gig.

Did the Dems in the General Court pass the legislation that would have taken away from the Gov the power to appoint replacement Sens, or did that never come to pass?

to my knowledge that never came to pass.

it is pretty much a done deal that romney will not seek reelection.

the kerry healey people have said that romney has assured her of his support in 06.

tom reilly has upset the liberal establishment and the gay community by allowing the gay marriage ban initiative to be placed on the 2008 ballot.

If it's Romney v Reilly, Romney wins.

If it's Healey v Reilly, Reilly wins.

IMHO.

i agree.

i like kerry healey.  however, i dont think she is ready yet.
