A sort of irony? None of them will be even remotely competitive in 2018

My favourite is still the 2001-2011 version of FL-22.  It was basically a district Republicans drew for Clay Shaw to have as many Republicans as possible in a district in heavily Democratic Broward and Palm Beach counties.  At some points, the district was only connected by a beach or inlet in order to avoid a Democratic neighborhood.

Minnesota 8th District: I find it fascinating how historic immigration still plays a part in affecting politics here today. It's also interesting to see the influence of labor-types clashing against the exurbs in the Southern portion of the district.

Arizona 1st District: There are so many factors at play here. Lots of Native reservations, liberal Flagstaff, Pinto Democratic counties. It's really cool to see how they interact with politics and come together.

Virginia 10th District: Really a study in contrasts, between exurban areas that voted for Stewart and the more highly educated white collar areas.

Kansas 2nd District: Topeka is diverse and swingy with lots of state employees and a college. Lawrence is left wing as hell. Southeast Kansas votes like Appalachia. Leavenworth and Atchison have the old labor/Catholic Dems. Emporia has a college and is notably lower income, but has a large and growing Hispanic population. It's such a blend and there's a heck of a race shaping up there in 2018.

Massachusetts 9th District: Cape Cod has lots of resorts, but it's also suffering from lack of opportunities for jobs and young people moving. While resort areas tend to trend Democratic, will we see Cape Cod go the other direction at some point? Maybe there will be a bifurcation of sorts on the Cape.

I didn't pick them because they're gonna be competitive. I picked them because they're at the the center of the WWC debate. These were traditionally Democratic districts up until the 21st century.

Now i understand. But still fear they will be absolutely noncompetitive (i.e. - boring) in the next decade at least...

MI-01
MN-08
MT-AL
AK-AL

There are a bunch of districts that WOULD be interesting if they were drawn in a way that makes sense. Like if PA-06 was a neat combo of Berks and Chester instead of what it is now.

How many Republican-represented House districts have a population that's less than 20% white? Tongue

Possibly FL-25, 26, and 27?  Although, Miami Beach and Coral Gables might keep FL-27 (Ros-Lehtinen) out of it.

FL-27 since 2013, and FL-18 before it since the 80s (the same area, south Florida). Ileana Ros-Lehtinen's district and Claude Pepper/Dante Fascell's before her.
