Racism and ignorance.  You are a fool if you think it is not offensive.

If it were southern pride, you would use the official flag, and not the battle flag.

The flag is a symbol of utter racism and bigotry to me. It's up there with the swastika in my opinion.

One word comes to mind when I see the Confederate flag: hicks.

Naturally, when I see someone displaying the Confederate flag, I pity them for their shameful display of ignorance and intolerance and bigotry and racism. However, I don't believe the government should ban the Confederate flag. It's their First Amendment right to freedom of expression, and no matter how offensive and ignorant it may be, people still have a right to display it - the same can be said for swastikas and any other hate symbols. I would never allow such a symbol to be seen in my home or on my property, but I will adamantly defend everyone else's right to display it and just hope that they learn tolerance and acceptance instead of hate and bigotry.
