Not a cosponsor, but this really shows where the wind is blowing now.

That's big.

This is bigger than Trump's hands.

But for real though, I wonder what's Manchin's main motive for this and would he flip flop in the end.

I'm glad to see Heinrich is co-sponsoring. He's my dark horse VP pick for 2020.

I'm actually pleasantly surprised by some of the names I'm seeing coming out and supporting this bill. Hopefully it's not just showmanship.

Wah! I don't want medical coverage for everyone like every other country in the western world! Pathetic. Hey even your idol (lol) Joe Manchin has contemplated getting on board.

Did I, at any point, state that I oppose medical coverage for everyone? All I did was point out that all the 2020 contenders are getting onboard with a "progressive" program. This bill will either be extremely watered down or not even make it to a vote.

Have you ever considered thinking before you speak? Or are you not mature enough to comprehend that?

His goal is to undercut any potential primary challenges.

It is smart political play by him. Neither Murphy or Sanders bills are going anywhere and everyone knows it. Honestly, it is smart for all Democrats to get on board. Again, this won't go anywhere, but they would some what neutered Bernie's effective attacks on the party concerning healthcare.

I wonder if Schumer could convince Trump to support single-payer. I mean, Trump is so easily influenced....

Sad to see so many Red Avatars on here root against universal coverage just because they're butthurt the left wing of the party is getting a win.

Any reasonable democrat (which is 80% of the voters) would like that Dems in the Senate are pushing for medicare for all. If they are Grandstanding I'm glad, that means they are actually representing your voters. Now post another map of Joe Manchin winning the presidency in a landslide and cry yourself to sleep.

Also, just an FYI, I never said in this thread that I oppose health coverage for all. But, that's none of my business.

See, you still won't address that I never stated I oppose single payer! Instead you insist on calling me a troll, and avoid a civilized discussion about where you went wrong.

This is proof that Bernie was the true winner in the long term. Glad to see Democrats are rallying energetically around this. GO GO GO! Cheesy
Eh... they're doing this to neutralize him. We will see where this bill actually goes.

I support it by the way just stating my opinion.

I hope this gets a significant portion of Democratic Senator's but to be real this is not getting anywhere with Republican control in the Senate. Democrats would first need to win the Senate and probably the House and with that the Presidency and by a good margin in both houses if they want to do it. This could happen as soon as 2020-2024 (I doubt 2018 will bring much change) and then you could implement progressive change like this and be successful which i would support in honesty. They should still fit for it at every turn up until that time but too be clear it will be unsuccessful. But to be clear Single Payer Universal Healthcare will probably be the future of the democratic position on healthcare or something similar so they better get ready

To the United States. Everyone who supports single-payer or even more socialistic forms of healthcare is a socialist by association and therefore a traitor the government of the United States of America.
