Florida votes to the right of the popular vote. It was .5 right of the popular vote in 2000. Obama won by 7 nationally in 2008,but Florida was within 3.

Because Gore worked absurdly hard to get it...only Hillary did more.

Climate change and he campaigned hard in the state only to be defeated by the Supreme Court.

Presumably due to Joe Lieberman energizing the Jewish vote in Florida and due to George W. Bush not campaigning as much there as he should have.

Still, Gore would have been better served picking Bob Graham as his VP. After all, unlike Joe Lieberman, Bob Graham has actually won five statewide elections in Florida by 2000!

Gore was an unusually good fit for Northeastern retirees in South Florida.

Not so much Gore as Lieberman, if you ask me. Still, Graham would have been better.

Orange county was a major factor. Gore was the first Democrat since FDR to win there, and it was part of the reason why Florida was called early for Gore.

Repeat with Biden 2020? Definitely could see him improving in Palm Beach, Broward and places like Collier, Sarasota.

Wow, this is a great find!  Shows how much contesting a state seriously can really move the needle.
