What are his chances of running? Could Moonbeam actually do it after all these years?

He'll be 82 in 2016... If he were 10 years younger, I'd give him a shot.

Try twenty years younger...age is probably part of the reason why Biden didn't run in 2016, and why he won't run in 2020.

I think Jerry himself said he would have run in 2016 if he were ten years younger. (Given his history with Bill Clinton, I have to think he would not have bowed out for Clinton and would have taken the lion's share of Sanders' voters in the primary.) I think the same is probably true of 2020. Regardless, if he thought he was too old in 2016, he'll clearly feel the same way in 2020.

I have no doubt he could pull it off if he tried and somehow remained healthy and tenacious, but I have my doubts about whether that's a realistic thing to expect for someone his age. This would be the perfect election for him, too... if he were just 10-20 years younger.

No. I'd love to have President Brown, but the guy is too old. I doubt he would win any primary. Maybe California if Harris doesn't run, but he'll be dead on arrival until the California primary comes around.

Yep. He probably could've gotten a few more moderates than Sanders got. It would be interesting. Also, you're right. Brown did say that he would've ran if he was 10 years younger.

Too old.

2004 would've been his last good chance if he wanted it, but he took the same path as Mr. Unruh and said "Nope da' state is enough". and decided to stay in Oakland, and slowly creep back up to Governor.

Great Governor, I supported him in 1992 over Bill Clinton, and this is part of my unliking of Bill Clinton, who moved the party rightward, where Brown and Cuomo wanted in to the left.

Personal I don't care too much about peoples ages for president if they have a good vice presidential nominee.

Why is everybody forgetting about Brown's fiscal policy during his first two terms?

I voted for Brown in 1992 when I was a registered Democrat.

In 1976 and 1980 he was viewed as too young and flaky.  In 1992 he was the right age, but out of office after having been defeated for a Senate seat.  He'll be 82 in 2020, probably too old, but 82 may be the new 72, and Brown's viewpoints and New Agey image are much more mainstream now than in 1980.  The only thing that has shifted against Brown over time, other than his age, is California's place in America's EV constellation; it's no longer critical to either the primary or the GE, as its primary comes late and its EVs are pretty much locked in for the Democrats.
