Has anyone else noticed that there's been a significant lack of Polling for the 2020 Democratic Primary ? By this same Tom in 2013 and even before then there was a lot more Polling for the Dem and GOP nominations respectively. The last pill conducted was in March by Harvard Harris, and there were only like 3 done before that

Part of it is that the 2016 GOP field was large, but also filled with people who had decent levels of name recognition years in advance.  Bush, Rubio, Christie, Paul, Santorum, Perry, etc. were already known in 2013.  There are only a few names in the 2020 Dem. field with similar levels of name recognition at this point, and the two name recognition leaders, Biden and Sanders, are so old that there are bigger doubts about whether they're actually going to go through with a run than there were for candidates like Christie and Rubio four years ago.

Given that, it's less clear that primary polls would be that illuminating at this stage.  I would be interested in more polls that measure name recognition directly though.  That would be interesting to track over time.

I'd argue Warren has a lot of name recognition

Warren would be next after Biden and Sanders, but last time around, there were many more prospective GOP candidates with Warren-like name recognition than there are Dem. candidates now with comparable levels of name recognition.

I agree, there should be more polling for an election that has been underway since January 20, 2017, when Trump filed for reelection

News organizations are collapsing, and there isn't that much room for polls while managing the devastation. Exit polls are getting phased out, too. They need to pay buyouts and healthcare for their employees, whatnot.
