Mom:  -6, +3.  Al/Cosmo Kramer clone.  Historically Democrat, religious, hasn't changed much.  Her father and mother were like her, but even worse.  Total populists.

Dad:  +1, +3.  Was a notorious Perot supporter, but was more liberal before then, as he never supported Reagan.  Did support Bush in 2000 and 2004, though less so in 2004.

Mom:

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -4.00
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: -1.64

Though strongly pro-choice, she is a lot stricter than I would be regarding child rearing and crime/punishment.  Similar to Blanche Lincoln, Mary Landrieu and locally Joan Krajewski or Lynne Abraham.
A conservative-leaning Dem that typically sways.  No real notable differences than me economically.

Dad:

Your political compass
Economic Left/Right: -6.25
Social Libertarian/Authoritarian: 4.46

Well, I knew he wasn't Jake even on social issues, but he is pretty far right by Philly standards.  Difference between me and him economically were the trade issues which he is a strong protectionist and he's very anti-corporate.  He may be a bit more conservative on the welfare issues though.  Staunch Catholic and a Republican, but used to be a Democrat.  Cosmo Kramer/Al clone as well.

Mother:

Pro-life, anti-gay marriage (thinks all gays are atheist pedophiles), anti-Iraq War (the reason she voted for Kerry), probably pro death penalty.  Very conservative on sex morals.  Unsure of her economic leanings, except that she doesn't like taxes.

Father:

Pro-choice ("personally against it"), pro gay marriage but still thinks gays are pedophiles, anti Iraq War, pro death penalty for all terrorists and first degree murders and probably rapists; again, conservative on sex morals.  Economic liberal opebo style: likes a socialist government as long as he doesn't have to pay the taxes.

Mom would be about a 4 economic, 1 social; dad about a 5 economic, -1 social. my brother's probably about 5, -3, and my sister's about -1, -4 (she's the schoolteacher...).

Wow a whole family of moderate libertarians. Haven't seen that before. Wink

most of them are moderate-conservatives, actually.  My sister's the liberal-ish outlier. My uncle George would be like a (6, 3) or something - outright conservative. My mother's cousin, Janet, I'm not sure of, but I'd guess (-6, -8) - she's a member of NOW.

My parents are pretty liberal, but slightly more conservative than me on some social issues.
