Describe a poor Landon 1936 voter

There was a big class split in the 1936 election. FDR was the candidate of the working class, Landon was the candidate of the most of the voters who owned a telephone at home.
However, there were no 16,683,574 rich Americans in 1936. Since Landon had these votes, some poor people voted for him.
Which kind of voter was the low class Landon voter?

A working class white man from Vermont or Maine, who has never voted for a Democrat and probably never will, unless he lives to see the post-Civil Rights GOP.

Would such a voter be considered a "Landonista"? Asking for a friend :-)

I'm not trying to bash the post-1964 Republican Party, I'm just saying that Goldwater and his ilk are largely responsible for the GOP losing the Northeast. the differences on policy between Landon and FDR were not that huge, by modern standards.

This plus other historically solid Republican areas like Appalachian Tennessee and parts of Appalachian Kentucky.

I'd argue it wasn't Goldwater, but rather Kennedy and the fact that Nixon refused to campaign in New England in 1960, 1968, and 1972.

A rural Great Plains voter who liked Landon's moderate stance on the New Deal, or a New England Yankee hurt by the Depression

Actually, this kind of voter defected to Lyndon Johnson in 1964, if he were still alive by then. Johnson would have been the first ever Democrat that they voted for.

1) Rural Yankee WASPs in the Northeast.
2) Voters in pro-union areas of the South like Eastern TN, South-Central KY, Grant County, etc.
