At the time of his death he was by far the most popular Democrat in his state of residence. Would see this as a landslide to be honest, will post MAP when eligible.

Did JFK, Jr. ever express any real desire to get into politics?

Either way, I think the possibility of having another Kennedy in the White House (plus the second political dynasty in U.S. history) is too good to pass up and Kennedy would win in a landslide.

Fifth political dynasty in US presidential history - Adamses, Harrisons, Roosevelts, Bushes, and now Kennedys.

I must admit I'm not as up to snuff on my American history as I'd like to be so thank you for the correction!

There were conflicting reports, some said he was going to run (and win) the NY Senate seat, others said he was waiting to run (and win) the Governership of NY. But either way it was widely reported he had plans to enter into politics and ultimately attempt to follow in his fathers presidential footsteps (not just a wishful fairytale, he actually DID want to do that)

And like you, I think (and I'd say the same thing even if I didn't like the Kennedys) he would win in a MASSIVE landslide.

I would really like to see the Kennedy's hold some influence again, I really hope Chris Kennedy wins his governor's race (but, of all the states in which we could have seen a governor Kennedy, why did it have to be the most ungovernable state in the country?), and I really hope Joe Kennedy III runs for Senate some day.

Do you think the "outsider" wave of 2016 would have hurt Kennedy given the backlash against dynasties (the Clintons, the Bushes)? Or would the Kennedys have been immune from that?

I think he wins regardless but in this hypothetical match up what is his elected position at the time of the election? (If he has one)

This thread is funny in hindsight given the QAnon prophecies about JFK Jr. returning as Trump's running mate back in 2020. Tongue

Senator John Kennedy (D-NY) / Senator Tim Kaine (D-VA)
Businessman Donald Trump (R-NY) / Governor Mike Pence (R-IN) ✓
