Somewhat. He can mobilise the youth vote there, as well as the elderly vote if he hits the Social Security point often enough.

However, that is a very, very big if.

Yes. Any number of factors/issues can swing 2 points in the other direction for a D win.

I never bought the thought that he couldn't. It is a swing state, and even being much to the left of regular Democrats wouldn't take that away.

I think there's a good chance he could flip Florida.

If you look at the trends from 2012-2016, you will notice that one particular area which swung heavily toward Trump was the region immediately north of the I-4 corridor. This region contains many people who moved from the Rust Belt region. If we applied 2012 margins to this region for the 2016 election, Hillary would have narrowly won Florida. Thus, given Bernie's ability to appeal to Rust Belt people, it is entirely conceivable that he can at least reduce the margins in this region to a level good enough to win the state overall.

Sure. He could run up the margins in the urban vote, outside of Miami-Dade, as well as appealing to rural voters. He would unite both Morgan and Graham supporters.

I feel like "an elderly Jew" may have a shot at Florida...

He could. It's a better fit on paper (not to mention historically) for Clinton and Obama, but a swing state is a swing state and people could be swayed. I don't think Sanders' Judaism will sway many voters, however. Jewish Floridians are already voting very much Democratic, and the ones who vote Republican aren't likely to be swayed by his policies. He could depress turnout and shrink the margin in Miami-Dade, but could easily make up for that by gaining voters in central and northern Florida.

Yes, of course he could. It's a perennial swing state, and reliable Democrats in the state aren't going to refuse to vote for him. Sure, he's a "better fit" for a state like Michigan, but that means less and less these days.

"Is there any chance a Democrat could win a state Clinton only lost by a point?"

Probably, yes.
