Just curious about this: why do some many Democrats dislike Cuomo? He's been doing a lot of things that I would think would bring out progressive voters (example: $15/hr minimum wage). Is it that he's doing these things seemingly to increase his chances of winning in 2020 (I pretty much consider him a candidate), or is it something else?

Always wanted to know.

I think it's more about the persona he projects. I'm certainly open to voting for him. He's achieved quite a lot policy-wise.

He sabotages his state Democratic Party for personal gain, for one thing.

He is viewed by progressives as a corporatist/establishment figure who may turn off working-class voters and thus have trouble winning back the Midwest.

As a NYer he is ok as a gov but he comes off very arrogant and has had some stories about his inner circle that don't make him look clean. Plus he has a horrible rep of ignoring upstate to benefit NYC so he would get eaten alive in the Rust Belt

Probably some folks believe he's a corrupt dude. I don't know whether he is. I haven't seen any proof, but it's been floated around for a while. At least what I've heard and read. Maybe just talk.

I'm curious how he's doing in 2018; both the primary and general. His 2014 numbers weren't that strong. 62% against a literally unknown primary rival and just 54% in the general election against some no-name GOPer who was not even supported by the national party in a solid blue state. He got 63% in 2010 as a non-incumbent. So, if you get reelected with nine points less than in the first place, there is something wrong. However, his current approval rating in NY seems to be pretty strong.
